When I see posts about refusing a car damaged in shipping, I usually think people are over reacting. In this case I agree with the OP's decision 100%. The sun roof can be problematic even without the roof being damaged.
If the dealer is claiming the $1,700 is coming out of his pocket, wouldn't that indicate the damage occurred after the vehicle was delivered?
Tough break having to go through the long wait again, but surely the right decision.
BTW - did you do a search on Jeep.com? There just might be another identical vehicle either at or in transit to another dealer. With the price of gas dropping, some perspective buyers may be having second thoughts about the diesel.
