Midsouth,

Can you include the link for the Aluminum intake. I have looked all over and they only seem to supply it for the 3.6l in aluminum?

AL intercooler pipe, not intake pipe. Pop open the K&N install PDF for better detail. Doesn't look like K&N is offering the 77 Series for the JGC yet.

I've owned both and there are two schools of thought on Series 63 vs 77: (1) AL flows better (2) plastic intake keeps intake air cooler. No question that the shiny Series 77 is sexier. For many applications, K&N does show different power gains for the Series 63 vs 77.

What is inside that intercooler pipe they are replacing?

I guess I'm trying to figure out of that is a worthwhile replacement (the intercooler pipe).

Stock pipe is a resonator but K&N is smooth. You want a sound baffle & transition or just a smooth pipe? I posted pics on the install HERE.

In your second link, the 63 series contains an aluminum intercooler pipe. The CAI pipe is still composite, only the 77 will have the aluminum CAI pipe, but that one is not available for the ecodiesel.

Just as a heads up, coupon code AA15RMN will give you 15% off, and then it goes for $318.74 shipped

Re: 3.0L Diesel AFE Mach Force Exhaust?

So I just talked to GDE about an unrelated topic, but I figured I'd ask for their opinion about using a CAI and their reply was:

"Intakes and exhaust are a waste of money on this application (WK2 EcoDiesel) and avoid a K&N style air filter at all costs. It may have a bit less pressure drop, but allows larger dirt particles through and is not good for a turbo charged engine"

Granted, I asked if this would be an enhancement to the GDE tune I already have, so that is (potentially) the context of the reply. I'm not sure if for instance the AFE 7R, with it's tripple layer filter, will be as harmful as well, however, at that point, how much more air is really flowing through the filter over OEM?

Does this setup replace the problematic emissions devices on the exhaust system?

No these are all downstream of emissions components. If you want that your search would be for off-road exhaust systems and that would require tuning to eliminate emissions monitoring of said devices. Prolly not the way to go if you have a warranty in effect or have to pass local emissions tests.
