I don't understand why they did that the diesel will probably last longer than the v6 or v8. glad I got the v8 for that reason anyway.

I guess I was looking at that the diesel engine would be less trouble in higher miles so they would pay out less on engine issues. could also see it as diesel lasts longer so you are paying out more on all the other vehicle components that will break because as it lasts longer, that's probably where they are coming from

Ultimately I still don't understand it because "lifetime" MaxCare plans end whenever Chrysler decides to wash their hands of your vehicle, regardless of their decision to call it "lifetime". They can do that just as easily with a diesel as with a gasoline engine.
