40,000+ miles and this pops up on dash

I've never seen anything in the stored messages folder before this. As I was driving I could actually smell the burn as it was in progress.

Re: 40,000+ miles and this pops up on dash

I have seen this all of one time and that was maybe 17K miles. I have 29K miles now. I had done a lot of city driving.
I drove the allotted time and all was well.
Others commented on this way back when like early 14 so it has been reported and discussed before...
My guess is that you must have done more city driving than normal to trigger this...

it must for a fail safe. when the DPF gets really clogged up and system needs continuous driving. nice to know though.

I had this a month or so back with about 16K on the odometer. Called the wife, told her I would be late, and took a cruise down the interstate.

Seen it once in 5000 miles and that was lots of short trips and was using sport mode more than usual.

Re: 40,000+ miles and this pops up on dash

The only thing I can recall I did different was that I put it in snow mode this past Thursday night on the interstate on the way home. 5" of rain in two hours. I'm not worried too much - just something I've never seen before.

Re: 40,000+ miles and this pops up on dash

I've seen it 3 times on a 2015 with 6500 miles. Tends to show up after the vehicle has not been out on the highway for a while and used for short trips around town. In the latest case 10 miles on the interstate took it away.

According to another thread on this site, folks have shut town the vehicle before this warning goes away and restarted it later to finish the process without problems.

Re: 40,000+ miles and this pops up on dash

I had a grand total of 187 miles on my new GC when it showed up yesterday. Approximately 100 of those miles were Freeway and 20 up a 7000' mountain. Not sure why it choose that time to Regen at that time but about 10 miles cleared it.

Thanks to all. The reassuring aspect is that although rare, others have seen it as well.

Re: 40,000+ miles and this pops up on dash

If it hasn't cleared up, head to the dealer. Mine had this come on after they flashed and updated something at the dealer. It stayed on for 3 days, and I have a 70 mile commute at 55 mph. so at 240 miles I was fretting the override that shuts the vehicle down.

The dealer said my SCR was malfunctioning and replaced the filter, the pump and something else. The DEF fluid tested ok, but something was broken on it. He said it was an $1100 repair out of warranty, but I was still covered. I had 22k when it happened.

Re: 40,000+ miles and this pops up on dash

I got this message on the dash earlier this summer while driving on the Cassier Highway in northern British Columbia. I had never seen it before and was genuinely alarmed because I was several hundred miles from a Jeep dealer at that point, and I had visions of the car going into limp mode or no restart mode. But I kept driving for about 15 minutes and the message disappeared. I then figured that two days of slow driving on this rough and scenic road had put the regen system under some stress, as others in this forum believe. Anyway, the message has never come back.
