9600 trouble free miles, until.....

The dreaded P20EE code! The change oil message came on at 9500 miles and the code 100 miles later. Been doing research here and it's a common problem with many solutions.

Taking the jeep to the dealer for an oil change soon and going to let them deal with the code. Fingers crossed it's a one time fix! I'll post details.

For us they first tried a software fix even though I provided them with the Star case number our mechanic son gave us.

It didn't last more than two weeks before it came back and they agreed to order the cat, which was on back-order.

The cat has now been replaced and so far-so good.

Might as well call the dealer and tell them the problem so they can get the part on order. I can't drop the jeep off til next week.

It usually isn't. The CAT is an expensive part, so there is none in stock at any dealership and Chrysler will not approve it unless it is verified to be the issue. It usually is a 3 visit procedure. 1st they will do a firmware upgrade to 18-018-14e and clear out DTC's. You will then drive around and wait for the MIL to show up again (for most of us it showed up within a few hundred miles). You then go back for TSB 18-045-14. They will do a DEF quantity and dilution/contamination test and if that passed the dealer will be able to request a CAT replacement to be shipped. Make sure to ask the dealer not to clear the DTC at this engagement as Chrysler might still refuse work for the dealer when the CAT arrives if there is no active DTC. You will then drive around for a few weeks with a MIL until the replacement CAT arrives. Once the dealer has the new CAT they will re-execute 18-045-14 and will finally replace it. This will hopefully be the end of the issue.
