Re: afe cold air intake

I am in Oz and have to be patient, waiting for the Banks CAI, I really hope they come up with a new 4inch MAF housing and pipe, that combined with a exhaust and a tune should come up nicely.

Anyway let us know what you think of the AFE once its on and post some pics.

If you have a data logger like Torque or a Scangauge it would be interesting to see the before and after inlet temps and air pressure readings at idle and 60kph and 100kph.

Cheers

It looks better than anything I've ever made.
The one I made used a readily available semi-truck filter. I bought everything from a truck parts shop and it has 3 times the filter area of the stock one. It doesn't look as good and maybe that makes the $260 AFE worth it. Also, the AFE's inlet tube looks small in the picture. I would expect a 3.5 to 4 inch inlet pipe.

I made mine from a dodge caravan tube lol

Re: afe cold air intake

As requested earlier, if you have an OBD2 reader, it would be great to see the before/after MAP (Boost) at idle and with cruise set at 60mph on the exact same stretch of flat highway, same ambient temp. Also, maybe a 0-60 comparison. That would be awesome.

Re: afe cold air intake

Unfortunately, I don't have an obd reader. I used to have the diablosport trinity tuner that did great diagnostics but they told me they had no immediate plans for the ecodiesel so I sold it.
I can probably do a few 0-60 runs and record the speedo. It's just a pain in the ass because I have to drive a half hour just to find a road that I can do 60mph on.
