After re-flashing of our diesel GC

Hi,
Finally, we did the first oil change at 8500 miles. Dealer did not charge us for the oil change, we only paid for DEF refill. $72 for 7 gallons.
They read the car computer and told us that the car need re-flashing for PCM and TPM.
After that when arrived home, we noticed a periodic click sound (once every second) from I think exhaust/DEF injector. The sound can be heard when the engine is warm and is running idle. The sound goes away if push the throttle, or when the engine is running cold. I am planning to take the car to dealership on Friday. I haven't noticed any changes in car's performance.

I hope your dealer sends you a Christmas card, because 7 gallons of quality DEF should cost around half that much.

By not paying for an oil change, you came out ahead. That being said however, 7 gallons of DEF at the pump cost about $18 and change.

The clicking sound is referenced in the diesel supplement to the owners manual. It is the DEF injector doing its job. You cannot hear it while driving, only at idle.

I would highly recommend looking at the part # for the oil used in the "free" oil change. My original dealer used a lesser grade oil during the "discounted" oil change and did not meet the specifications from Jeep. I ultimately had to find a dealer that understood the specifications from MOPAR.

My first "free" oil change from the dealer had semi-synthetic listed on the invoice, but the part number referenced the correct penzoil stuff.

I've never heard my def injector though...

After that we put 8000 miles mixed towing a 5300 lbs RV trailer and no towing. When the engine was hot and idle (car was in parking and engine was running after towing, the click sound disappeared). I realized that the click sound is the sound of the injector and obviously when the engine is running hotter than normal, the car does not need DEF injection that much as it does when it is running under normal load.

yep mine clicks too. you got raped on the DEF, however. I gave $25 for two 2.5 gal DEF blue on sale at NAPA. Look for a sale and buy it but wait till you get 500 mile low DEF warning to refill. I've been putting in 5 gal at a time.

You too are overpaying for DEF. $2.69/gallon for DEF at the pump

At store prices (10$/gallon) we're somewhere around 1 cent/mile for DEF. so, 1200$ if we keep it for the 120k warranty period. For that money you could get the offroad/dpf-disable tune from GDE and the mpg bump to go with it...

On the invoice the code is
1 68229402AA for the filter
8 68001334PB for the synthetic oil
