So I've been poking around and I'm looking for a quality Activated Carbon Cabin filter. I see some no name brands so what are you running? i'm looking at the Mahle today but it's 22 bucks. I also saw Bosch have a HEPA filter on Amazon for 18 bucks.

Suggestions welcomed.

Thanks

I have some thoughts but first a disclaimer- a big part of the business I run is manufacturing and distributing transmission filter kits and cabin air filters. So while I have a pretty solid knowledge of the parts, I also want to be upfront on my preferences.

That being said, our ATP TA-10 carbon filter for our WK2's works well, we sell them by the container load. A Fram or an AC Delco work well too. I wouldn't worry about buying one of the more well known household brands, many of them are produced in the same place as the lesser known brands.

I've had the FRAM and MOPAR charcoal filters. The MOPAR is way sturdier and heavier, so now I only use the MOPAR charcoal filter.

In summer 2015, I bought the Fram CF11183 filter in order to upgrade to activated charcoal filtration and yield the freshest cabin air possible—not that I had any complaints about the factory cabin air filter.

Ironically, within 2 weeks of installation of the Fram my HVAC system became infected, even though I never use AC recirc mode. Replaced the filter within a month, but it wasn't the problem. To this day my HVAC smells revoltingly fungal for a minute or two upon startup, year round, especially if intake air is humid.

I'm going to have to disassemble the duct/blower system and clean it manually. That's on the "someday" todo list.
