Anybody ever use Champion oil? Available now for less than $7 a quart, shipped. I like the fact that it shares the VW 50700 rating with the MS-11106, and their literature looks good, but I just can't find a whole lot of UOA on any Champion oils.

We don't get that oil here in Australia, so certainly couldn't comment on the manufacturer.
One point we have found however is that a manufacturer claim of "meets or exceeds" is a quantum leap from the wording "approved".

This meets the eco d specs? Don't have the manual and can't remember. We have a VW TDI too, so would be great if works for both.

Yes, that is what had me attracted to it. I used to have and my folks still do a couple of TDI's that require VW 507.00, and this one is compatible with both our EcoDiesel Chrysler MS-11106 and the VW spec. I don't trust an oil that says it's MS-11106 rated but not VW 507.00, there is a reason why VW created the additional 507.00 spec over the 505.01/505.00 which our 2005 PumpeDiesel TDI required, as opposed to what our newer TDI's required (507.00).

Heads up, the "sale" at AA was for their regular blend 5w30, and not their European variety. The label is identical down to the small print on the front, where it does say European. AA will take it back, but they wanted me to pay for full shipping back and I got them to at least split that. I called Champion and kindly suggested that they do more to differentiate between the two products, like how Mobil1 does it for example with their 5w30 ESP variant, in a green label as opposed to their standard blue label.

Thanks AirBull

Dayum....sorry to hear about that. It appeared to be the same stuff but now, after further investigation on my part, I discovered that the Champion Syngold European SAPS formula is Champion part number 4436H.

And when I used that in the search, the cheapest I could find it was $15 a quart!!

What a PITA for you.
