Re: Anyone received a 2015 Ecodiesel?

I got my VIN for the 2015 Ecodiesel today, which seems like a good sign.

Fingers crossed. If anyone happens to get a delivery date, I for one would appreciate the update.

I'd also be curious to hear from you all on whether they did anything to protect the DEF system, as I don't know whether I should go in on the group buy for the protective plate on another thread or not.

Not sure whether it'll even be necessary.

Re: Anyone received a 2015 Ecodiesel?

I got in on the first round for the DEF injector/harness skid plate. I fully expect that I'll find no factory skid plate to protect the area on my '15 (even with ORA II) when it arrives. So yes, I DID spend the money to correct Jeep's oversight. Shouldn't have to, though...

Kinda chaps my a$$ that the tires I'll get with my ORA II-equipped jeep won't be A/T, either, but I guess I'll spend that money too

From what's been said, it appears as if no 2015 GC Ecodiesels have been manufactured yet.

Perhaps this is due to demand on the Ram side?

Sounds like there's also a number of needed fixes on the DEF system.

Perhaps they are tightening up that aspect of the engine for this next go around?
My Diesel MY15 vehicle was built at the end of August......Export model though, still on the boat.

My 2015 Summit Diesel order has been placed.. Also looking forward to seeing if the DEF issue has been taken seriously.

Re: Anyone received a 2015 Ecodiesel?

Some have said in other threads that the delay on producing 2015 Ecodiesel GCs has come from the high demand on the Ram Truck side.

From today, some details on this:

Ram Ramps Up EcoDiesel Production - PickupTrucks.com News

Quote:
Not only has Ram found a way to squeeze out almost 30,000 extra Ram 1500s annually from the Warren Truck Assembly Plant in Michigan, now it's announcing that to meet demand it will be running a 20 percent mix of 3.0-liter V-6 turbo-diesel-equipped pickup trucks by November.

The initial predictions Ram made about the possible sales rate of the small EcoDiesel engine ran between 5 and 10 percent. That's when the engine choice was an unknown factor and Ram was the first in the segment to offer a light-duty diesel. Dealership orders proved to be quite a bit higher than that, which had production chiefs scrambling to figure out how to get more of the small engines made by VM Motori in Italy. The engine is also used in the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

With 1 in 5 Ram 1500s equipped with the EcoDiesel (and most of them upper-level trim packages), this far exceeds the original predictions about the number of trucks that would have the engine and is likely to motivate other truckmakers to consider, reconsider or move forward their plans to offer their own light-duty diesel for their full-size or midsize pickups.
I also read somewhere else that while we wait for the logjam to clear, that the manufacturers are coming up with a protection scheme for the DEF system. So that gives some solace while we wait.

I ordered mine 3 weeks ago and it is still in the "Pre-release" stage. That means it is in-line for scheduling, usually within 2-4 weeks. If you pay to become a premium member (level 3 or higher) you receive daily updates on where your vehicle is in the chain. I've done that and it's kind of fun. But bottom line is I'm seeing lots of other cars being processed, built and shipped while my Ecodiesl hasn't budged. I think previous posters are absolutely correct that production of the GC is being delayed due to the demand for the engine in Ram trucks. I was told that when I first wanted to order the GC and had to wait more than a month just to place the order.

I would double check with your dealer who told you 3-4 weeks - I think that would be the case if it were a normal order but not with the diesel. Please post back!

Re: Anyone received a 2015 Ecodiesel?

I looked on the tracking page and docpaul didn't receive a VIN, but instead likely received his VON.

I think eveyone who ordered a 2015 Ecodiesel is still waiting to be scheduled for production (D1)??

Probably going to be longer than 3-4 weeks.

No, I definitely have my VIN, but not scheduled for manufacturing yet.

I'm a "D" and not yet a "D1".

I think my dealer didn't know what he was promising.

Re: Anyone received a 2015 Ecodiesel?

Thanks docpaul. Not trying to argue, but trying to figure out where everyone stands. Seems like at some point they will open the flood gates and start cranking out the ecodiesels.

1. VON (Vehicle Order Number, assigned when an order is placed with dealer, sometimes same day, sometimes weeks later))
or
VIN (assigned several weeks after order is placed)

Did your salesman give you the VIN? Seems unusual to have a VIN so quickly based on when your order was placed.

I placed my order about a week before yours and am still in "pre-release," which I think is the same status you are in.

Not sure "D" is a category, but that is maybe what you mean by "pre-release".

In any case I don't think any of us (except for the one reported export case) have yet to hit D1. Once we hit D1 we get an expected delivery date!! Which looks fairly accurate based on other non-diesel builds.

Re: Anyone received a 2015 Ecodiesel?

"D" is a status in VOTS (and in MOTS, it shows as a status just prior to "PR / pre-release"). I'm obsessively checking both (you can check VOTS using a work-around plug-in from a Chrome browser).

Last I noticed from Milous is that diesel production is tentatively kicking off again in mid-October. Let's hope that doesn't slip again. With that being said, I'd expect those of us waiting to see D1 within the next week. The only U.S. EcoDiesel showing D1 currently is someone who managed to get their order in back in June before FC closed the diesel order bank and pushed all of the VM engines over to Ram. That poor customer has been looking at D1 for MONTHS

Re: Anyone received a 2015 Ecodiesel?

Thanks Muzhik for the info and for pointing me to another system to check every day :-) I thought VOTS was not working, but now I understand where docpaul was getting his information from. If production is going to start in mid October for the ecodiesel, some of us should turn from D or pre-release to D1 very soon.....

See the link below for how to access VOTS. I installed the extension in Chrome, went to the VOTS site, entered my VON, and pressed Get Info. Worked great.
