Anyone use Kendall GT-1 5w30?

It meets me-11106 spec and hella lot cheaper than other puls. Given how stringent the spec is I can't see there being any issue. 12qt for $58.43. On amazon that's 4.87 a quart.

While you're at it can anyone tell me a good air filter? Have never changed mine since I bought it so there's at least 17000 miles on it

Regarding air filter changes, dont go by looks or miles. Install one of these instead;

http://filterminder.com

http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...2654&ppt=C0023

They are typically factory installed on heavy duty trucks and equipment. We have them on our entire fleet and only do filter changes as needed. Its probably the first thing going on the ED when it arrives at our shop.

They are available at NAPA, Amazon, and ebay.

Flying Texan,

The FCA spec has changed.

http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_1807616.pdf

They also (and very quietly, sneakily) retro'd it to the 2014 and 2015 EcoDiesel engines by updating the owners manuals showing the new specification. Go to pages 77, 97 and 98 of the Diesel Supplement, which show the change to the new spec which is MS-10902 5w40 API CJ-4.

So I'm confused has the spec changed to where only 5w40 is usable is the 11106 still good?

Re: Anyone use Kendall GT-1 5w30?

Well,
Being as the dealers were instructed to drain the 5w30 and put 5w40 in the 2016's they had on hand, I went with changing my 5w30 to the new spec 5w40 oil ASAP!

I used up the last of my Pennzoil 5w30 and, yesterday, I went with a new filter and Rotella T6. Only had 3000 miles since the last oil change but decided to go with the new spec. I previously used Rotella 5w40 in our MH diesel engine and, when we bought our JGC, I was used to diesels running 5w40 but thought that VM/FCA knew better going with a 5w30. Well, obviously not !

How do you install that? Drill a hole in the factory air box?

It comes in a bunch of configurations, but the one we use the most is the grommet mount. I believe it's a 3/8" hole that's drilled in the clean side of the filter box.

Ask your dealer and then contact the Customer Center (800) 247-9753. See if either of these can give you a definitive answer.

I use the 5W40 Kendall GT-1 Full Synthetic Euro Motor Oil in my MB Sprinter and plan to also use it in the new GC when it's time.

I ran 2 oil changes with the Kendall before the MS-11106 spec was changed and saw no ill effects.
