My 8 month battle with Jeep finally came to an end with very positive results. I had one of the first 2014 Ecodiesels off the line. (Per Chevyboy, who worked in the plant, it was the first off the line). It ran great for a year and a half. Then the problems began. It was in and out of the shop for months. (in the shop for over 3 months total). Jeep finally found that they used a mix of American and European parts. A star case was opened to track the parts that were used, and eventually, they had to make a custom part to connect the mix of parts on the turbo charger, which solved the problem. Half way thru the service issues, a higher up executive at Jeep finally gave me a lifetime warranty on my Jeep. I was happy at first, but then the Jeep went back in the shop for another month. I though what good is the lifetime warranty if it is always in the shop. Since I did not know how many other parts on my Jeep were mixed like this, I fought for a buy back. It took about 4 months, and dozens of phone calls, and lots of stress and patience for this to occur. I finally got results after e-mailing the CEO of Chrysler. During the buyback process, we agreed to transfer the warranty to the new 2016. On March 30th, I finally took delivery of the new Jeep. I was mailed a 8 year, 120,000 mile, $100 deductible warranty. This is when the second half of the battle started. I contacted customer support several times a week. Everyone I spoke with agreed that I was due the lifetime warranty, but no one had the authority to give me the warranty. I was transferred around, and spoke with numerous people, but still, no help. I was so frustrated that I finally contacted the senior executive who gave it to me in the first place. It took him a month, but yesterday, I was finally e-mailed the warranty. In conclusion, I traded back a 2014 Jeep Ecodiesel Overland that was 2 ½ years old with 40,000 miles for a new 2016 that was the same model, and I only had to pay the difference between a 14 and a 16, which was a $1000. I also got the Maxcare lifetime warranty, which is not offered on the Ecodiesel, but a handful of Ecodeisel owners were able to get due to issues we had on our Jeeps. I must say, it took a long time, and lots of stress and frustration, but am very satisfied with the end result.
