Re: Block heater installation

Wow! I live in Wisconsin and will never start it when it's that cold out with out being plugged in or tucked in the heated garage. Did you guys have any frozen DEF problems at those temperatures that threw error messages? Thanks.

The vehicle ignores the DEF errors during extremely cold starts. Built in heaters thaw the DEF and injection resumes normally.

Re: Block heater installation

I will be plugging mine in at below 30 degrees...the worst that can happen is it saves on wear and tear. My '04 ram gets plugged in at 30 degrees or colder.

Re: Block heater installation

What does the power supply cable look like? Post some pics? It's just an extension cord with a specific connector on the vehicle side of things isn't it?

Thanks

Re: Block heater installation

I'm not sure if it's the same heater used in the Hemi, but you can find the installation instructions for the Hemi block heater at http://site.justforjeeps.com/guide/82212439.pdf

Re: Block heater installation

It's funny. My was optioned with the block heater... AKA the cord.

Looked in the spots I should find it... No cord.

Thinking I'm gonna call Koons and see if they will sent me one and the local dealer can install it under warranty. No reason why it shouldn't be there.

Re: Block heater installation

It took three techs to find my cord tucked under I can't remember what. They finally put it on the hoist.
New delivery and I wasn't leaving without proof the block heater was there.

Re: Block heater installation

For those that have one - If you were in a remote location away from a power plug, how do you plan to power the heating element?

Transducer and a battery? How many amps does the heater draw?

Should be minutes and not hours. MSRP on the cord is $67.25.
