Body creak on '15 Summit EcoDiesel?

Anybody else ever hear something like this? Started maybe 500 miles or so ago. The video starts off with me in my driveway at a stop, and then I just lift off the brake and reapply the brake a couple of times, and the creak is easily identified, even if I can't place where it is specifically coming from. Sounds like passenger side fender or door. Usually not there when I first leave, but by the time I get back, it's there and not had to find.

Note that the creak is still there as I slowly drive into the garage and roll over the lip into my garage.

I recorded it on my Samsung S5 and the sound actually came out much better than I was thinking it would. Make sure you first turn up the volume in your media player, and then adjust your desktop sound accordingly.

Now that I have it on video that I can replicate to a dealer service advisor,
I feel better about taking it in and seeing if they can fix it. I worried that if I couldn't replicate it on demand, and the dealer couldn't hear it, they would either put a bunch of miles on my truck looking for it and/or else just give it back and say they couldn't find anything.

Sounds very similar to what I heard on my '14 Summit. Turned out to be a bad bushing on the right control arm. The dealer ended up replacing the entire control arm assembly because the bushing alone was not replaceable. I was able to replicate the noise by going to a big parking lot and making low speed but reasonably sharp left turns. As the vehicle body started to roll to the right, you could hear the creak.

Re: Body creak on '15 Summit EcoDiesel?

Thanks, JEB1. So I finally took my Jeep in and got it back yesterday. The suspension was where I was thinking the problem lay, but the creak was never there until the vehicle got up to normal operating temperature. Turns out there was a heat shield over the exhaust (didn't specify where,) that would heat up with the vehicle, and it would rub on the exhaust. They adjusted the heat shield and Voila!, no more creak.

I just noticed something very similar after a return from a Mexico trip with a lot of wash board road driving. I had installed Dom's DEF protection plate right before I left and figured that it was something like that.

Thanks for the heads up

Do you know if this was the heat shield that sits to the left of the DPF? I have the same creak sound, but only when the vehicle is in reverse and the wheel if turned fully to the left or right and the brakes are applied.

I had EXACTLY this same sound and symptoms. 2 trips to the dealer later and they finally figured it out. boy did I feel dumb.

the little vertical arm part of doms plate likes to rub (I never bolted it down) so I just bent it out of way a little.

Have you guys parted this info to the vendor so that he can make adjustments to the shield?

Re: Body creak on '15 Summit EcoDiesel?

More of an FYI for those searching the thread...

I had an issue on my '14 where the driver door latch would creak during pitch and roll. Dealer thought the door realignment fixed it but it came back a few days later. A bit of lithium grease on the catch solved it for good after careful listening to localize the noise.
