Buyback/Replacement

Finally ordered my new 16 JGC overland diesel after several months of headaches with the 14. Will post more details when the deal is completed, but at this time, all I can say is that I am more than satisfied with how Jeep is handling the situation. Hopefully it continues throughout the replacement process. Will post more when the deal is complete.

Shannon, I'm sorry it had to come to that. I *still* remember when we were building your Jeep.

Let me know what's going on, so if there's anything WE can do, I can report it to the proper people.

Since mine was one of the first one off the line (I think mine was built by the pilot team) there was an inadvertent mix of european and american parts. My Jeep was in the shop for 2- months over the past 3 months. Took opening a star case to find out the problem and the fix for the issue. Problem is now hopefully fixed, but Jeep is going to replace it since I had so many issues. I have been dealing with many people at Chrysler over the repairs, so I am glad they are stepping up to the plate to make things right.
Thanks for your concern Marlon, I appreciate all you do. My new Jeep was just ordered, so hopefully you will see it coming down the line soon. (If you can get out of that office of yours and go down to the line)

Re: Buyback/Replacement

It wasn't built by the pilot team.

Glad things seem to be on the up and up now.

But yours was one of THE VERY FIRST off the line... may have been the first one.

Re: Buyback/Replacement

FWIW, I have an May 2014 build vehicle...and it was in the shop several times for various MILs (including one STAR case) during the first 18 months or so. Mostly just software upgrades and one complete fuel injection system replace...and of course the CAT replacement. Mostly a PITA taking it to the dealer so often but at least the store is close to my home.

Now, all of the problems seem to have calmed down and no MILs in the last six months. However, it had a mechanical....a flap gear for the HVAC system failed.

Today, I was behind a new Range Rover thinking about how great my JGC is at half the price of the RR with 90% of the capabilities.

Glad to know we have a factory guy on the forum...and happy to hear FCA took care of you.

Mine just went into production as of today. Feel free to autograph it if you see it. If a 2017 Uconnect with apple play "magically" appeared in it, I would love it

This year there's an 3.0 TDI option from them. It makes it interesting to consider as I would never buy a RR with a gas engine as they get miserable mileage. They advertise similar MPG as the WK2 Ecodiesel. Plus there's huge room for negotiation on purchase price and I know you can get $10k or more off sticker. Still doesn't come close to value of our rigs but I do like how the RR looks better. Plus it has a 3 seat option as well.

Re: Buyback/Replacement

Congrats Shannon glad to hear everything went well with your buyback and new vehicle. I loved my ecodiesel, it just didn't love me. Not too upset with the move to the F-150 though, just upset as I planned to keep mine much much longer then the 2 years I had it.

Re: Buyback/Replacement

I wish we got the same treatment in Canada. I'm at a standstill with my dealer here, Customer Care doesn't actually do anything for the customer here, and I'm stuck with an inept dealer that kept my vehicle coming back for 2 months for a 14 hr repair that went sideways on them. Glad Jeep cares about their American customers!

Re: Buyback/Replacement

Sorry to hear of your problems. It took me months of headaches and calls to get mine replaced. It was just delivered to the dealer last Thursday, now just waiting for the paperwork from ISG to be sent to transfer everything over. Hoping to have the new Jeep by midweek.

Re: Buyback/Replacement

This is the typical case for those of us that want the first model year. My Dec 19 build in 13 has done well. The typical visit to reflash for a cat issue then a replacement cat. My dealer has been outstanding. I went Euro Delivery on my BMW 335 hardtop convertible and had few issues until warranty expired. Since then and with fee miles on am2007 69k to be exact I have spent more out of pocket to keep it running than all my previous 12 BMWs combined.
At times it sucks to be a beta tester!!!

Re: Buyback/Replacement

Yea, sucks to be the first. Chevyboy, who used to work in the plant, says mine was the first american ecodiesel off the line back in Nov 13. Turns out that in error, they used a combination of European and american parts on mine. Once the oil leak started, they could not fix the issue. Had to open a Star case, and track every part to its origin to find the root cause. Then had to make a custom part to connect the european and american parts to fix the issue. Not sure how many other issues this would cause in the future, so Jeep is replacing the vehicle. Hopefully able to pick up the new Jeep tomorrow. It arrived to the dealership last week, and today ISG is sending the surrender paperwork to the dealer. Took a lot of time, work, and frustration on my part, but in the end, Jeep really stepped up to the plate. I am really happy with how they handled the situation in the end.
