I have done some googling but cannot find my answer.

I am about to embark shortly on mildly performance modding the diesel, the plan is to dyno the car after each mod so we can get real figures of whats worth getting.

I am not a big fan of dynoing but as there as no tuning software this will have to do, my other cars were road tuned.

My tuner only has a 2WD dyno and will dyno the car for me after each mod, so is the front drive mechanical or electronic from the transfer case ??????

I am only going to put it on the 2WD dyno if I can pull a fuse !!

1) 3 Inch exhaust no mufflers
2) cold air
3) tune - yet to be decided

Cheers

Why is road/track tuning not acceptable? Any improvement in power will shave time off a 1/4 mile run. The 1/4 mile time factored by weight gives a fairly accurate RWHP figure...the laws of physics apply.

Have you seen the other post regarding upgraded catback exhaust? Someone tried one and it seems there is not much to gain without getting rid of the upstream DEF and/or CAT which are fairly restrictive. A custom tune with DEF/CAT delete would really wake up the VM3.0.

Also, where are you getting your CAI?

Currently the OBD port is locked out so no data logging then adjusting the tables then uploading and repeat till you get it right. As per the Tuning thread ECU must be removed and opened up.

I believe we will be able to in the near future once supply and demand kicks in and someone will crack it.

Road is acceptable for tuning all my other cars were road tuned via logging, adjusting, logging adjusting till it was sweet.

For the exhaust I am not doing it for performance but for sound, I am having a 3inch made with no mufflers and black 4.5 inch tips. If it sounds crap then mufflers will go on.

As for the CAI all i was going to do with it on the dyno was take the air box off and put a large cone filter on the end to see it it made a difference. Due the size of the MAF I doubt there would be any big difference.

if I could disengage the front drive easily I was going to put it on my tuners 2WD dyno so everyone could see what if any increases were to be had.

And AFE make a CAI for the diesel they claim 30% increase in air flow, but no mention of power increase, thats were a proper tune would benefit.

Cheers
