Changed out front rear axle and transfer case

Today changed out front and rear axle oil, and transfer case fluid.
All plugs used number 8 hex head bit.
Used 1 QT of 75/85 fluid for front Axle. Rear took 1 3/4 QT 75/85 fluid for refill. Transfer case used Mopar ATF +4 used 2.25 Qts for transfer case.
Two hour job from first timer. Taking off and putting front axle shields took most time. Job most do it your self people can do with ease.

Re: Changed out front rear axle and transfer case

I am contemplating doing this job and bought all the fluids.

Do you have the ORII package on your JGC?

If so, did you do it with your GC up in ORII (or on a lift) and was removing the front protection plate a one man job for removal?

Thank you....

Front plates are simple one man job, just remove bolts. Factory plates are light and flexible, can hang down.
Did not use lift, could do job with out jacking up Jeep. Being big guy, I did use floor jack after removing front shield for more room. Middle frame bar located under front shield, good point for floor jack. You can also use floor jack on rear passenger side jack point, for better access to rear end.
Also transfer case plugs use pipe joint sealer, I used Teflon pipe tape.

I have the factory skids on mine, just put the QL all the way up and slide under and did all three. Pretty easy job, drain plugs on everything makes it go quick

Re: Changed out front rear axle and transfer case

What was the mileage when you did this? Or did I miss it?
