Check Engine

Question, this morning, check engine showed up and not leaving even after restart...all temps are normal, would i see a error code somewhere or do i need to bring it in to the dealer to know what it's all about? Dealer service departments are closed locally t'll Monday, so wondering...thanks for your input... last thing i checked was the AIR filter, maybe i had unhooked a sensor, verified that...really kinda puzzled...

The easiest thing to do is to go to an auto parts store like Advance Auto Parts, or Auto Zone, etc. and have them read the code. They do it for free. Once you know the code you can Google it, or post here for more information. There should be a way to key on/off for the ignition code, I don't know the process for a diesel GC yet, I'm sure you can find it on Google though, or someone here can walk you through it.

Re: Check Engine

Thanks, I guess I will need to wait until Monday, as most shops are closed here on Sundays...Still ordered ODB unit, this way, if I get some errors, I'll be able to read them...And hoping it aint the P20EE code...

Re: Check Engine

P20EE isn't bad is it? My rig ran fine when it would trip the code. Ever since the cat replacement the MIL hasn't come on yet, so far so good.

No, you are right, not that bad. Just that when you read around, many are getting this error even after getting all the TSB's and part swaps...that kinda makes me nervous, you know...

Re: Check Engine

Hopefully if it is that dreaded code you can get a cat swap without too many trips to the dealer.

Re: Check Engine

Yeah, if it is….I have been reading and printing many experiences here, getting ready in case…luckily the dealer is at 8mins away…lets see! You know, thinking of it, might as well have this code now and have the leverage of it being a new car…and push to get the new revised CAT…I dunno, mixed feelings I guess….

Re: Check Engine

Yeah get it replaced and move forward. Wonder what they changed on the updated cat for the replacement and 2015 model.

Also think with the multiple flash updates they adjusted the dosage of the Def to help from saturating the cat?

Re: Check Engine

Well my worries have come true, driving the wife's overland crd today and check engine light came on!! 6120 miles. I know it could be something else other than the P20 code. but everything looks and sounds perfect. Crap.

Sorry to hear but you were prepared to hear the news at least.

Interested to know cat availability up here and hopefully they get you fixed up asap.

Are you mostly hwy or city driving?
