Check Engine Light just came on !!

My Check engine light just came on. There are now messages in the "messages" secition of the EVIC. Is there a why for me to check to see what code it is throwing ?

Also is this the start of all the DEF issues some people having ?

If you have an OBDII scanner, you can hook it up and see what DTC's are causing your MIL light to be on.

Just had the same thing happen last week. They said there was a new flash update that fixed the problem. I have the codes, but have not yet looked up to see which updates they gave me. There were 3 of them. I know one was for transmission, not sure about the other two. No problems since.

Re: Check Engine Light just came on !!

You guys need to know the associated codes. Get a scanner. The ScanGuage2 is a nice addition to the center console cubby and can provide a wealth of info. A smartphone app with Bluetooth ODB2 device works well also.

If SCRM means SCR Module....Mine was being replaced today. With the bad module, I drove mine 150 to 350 miles between dealer visits without issues but had a persistant P20EE code pending or active. Prior to that, I had the DEF pump.and DEF Injector replaced on my first visit to the shop. Mine went into "xxx miles until no restart" mode before any repairs. It never did it again afterwards. Either way, you'll have 200 miles to get to to the dealer should you get the EVIC message.

Re: Check Engine Light just came on !!

I had my first real issue with my Jeep yesterday. Here's the setlist...

Check engine light comes on > Msg saying exhaust filter almost full and to drive highway speeds to remedy > I drive highway speeds for quite a while > Msg saying filter is 100% full > Electronic Throttle Control light starts flashing > I can drive at 20-30 MPH in whatever random gear Jeep picks along with really high RPMS.

Had to tow it 3 hours back to Boulder.

Not entirely true. It does reduce economy in hilly or mountain terrain. My economy hasn't changed noticably....but I don't live in Colorado.

That's the same as city/hwy for the V6. The Hemi would be around 15/21. And either one of those options in Colorado at a mile high with big hills would be way worse! Ya gotta look at both sides of the coin!

But the cost difference doesn't come out... jeep will fix all these issues. Just don't know how long it will take.
