Mine was low also when i bought. I bought the mopar stuff mixed 50/50 with distiled and filled to the max line. That was a year and a half ago and it never moved again. After i bought the antifreeze i found later they also sell the mopar stuff already premixed 50/50 so matbe buy that it saves a little trouble and you realy dont need much to get to max line. Good luck

Re: Coolant level below min

We checked the floor, no sign of any leak. Checked the oil dipstick, no sign of water in the oil. We will take the car to the dealetship tomorrow for having them to top off the coolant. We qre considering buying a quarter of mixed coolant and keep it in the car. If water leaks into the engine, can it damage the engine? If coolant level lowers again, can we drive or we should cancel the trip and take the to the closest dealership?:

If coolant mixes with oil that is bad and you got a busted headgasket or other and i would not drive it like that for any extended period of time just take it in if that happens. But likely it was just a little under filed same as mine and adding a little is all that is needed.

Re: Coolant level below min

If the level is consistent in the bottle when cold after sitting overnight from day to day you have nothing to worry about.
When the hot engine is shut off and the coolant cools off the system pulls it into the radiator
and when it is running and hot the level can increase in the bottle. I suggest you top off the overflow bottle to the max line when cold and keep an eye on it and if the level does not change with heat/cool cycles you have nothing to worry about. Chances are that it came low on coolant from the factory. Another way for Chrysler to save money

The dealership added some coolant but did not top it off. The coolant level has been more or less consistent after drivig 1600 miles.

Re: Coolant level below min

Mine has been low since the day of pickup. I figured the engine was probably still warm on mine when they were doing the PDI and so it was missed. When the vehicle is warm, the antifreeze level rises above the min fill line, but when cooled is rather far below it. Even more so than your pictures. I keep planning on adding DI water, but forget to pick up a gallon when at the grocery store.

You MIGHT have a slow leak somewhere.

Take a magic marker to the coolant recovery bottle and mark the level... then check it when it is similarly cold.

Mention this issue to your servicing dealer, as a good one would offer to pressure test the system, and a great one would add a bit of properly mixed coolant/water.

Over the 11 months of ownership, I've added between one and two quarts in dribs and drabs to keep it to the min. line. Dealer claims no evidence of a leak.

The dealership filled the coolant, but not to the max level, when I only had 200 miles on the car. After having 3500 miles on the car, the coolant level has stayed stable. If there was a leak, don't you think that it should show up by reducing the coolant level?

Did dealer pressure test it?
Any more dealers in the area?
I've got 20 months and about 29K miles and haven't had to add even a cupful.

I do have a strange coolant smell every now and then, but it doesn't show up on pressure test or even check of water pump seepage... and doesn't seem to be consuming any actual coolant.

Re: Coolant level below min

Picked my 2015 up last week and it too was low in coolant. I asked them about it and they had no idea. My theory - the car was delivered with like 7 miles on the clock; I bet air bubbles trapped in the coolant were making their way out of the block and into the expansion tank. This happens whenever you change out the coolant (every 30K miles back in the day) so I think that after a 100 miles or so it should be all out. Add a cup or two of distilled water and you should be fine.
