Coolant level below min

Sorry guys, may be this is a stupid question, but we noticed that the coolant level in our GC is below minimum level when the engine is cold. Do we need to top off it with water or coolant? The user manual does not say any thing about that.

Details are on the back of the Mopar Antifreeze/Coolant botttle. Just fill it using a 50/50 mix of Antifreeze/Coolant and water. If you worried top up with water, better than nothing and add a little coolant next time it drops. You should be able to Get a 1QT bottle from the Dealership.

Thanks, Where can I get distilled water? Is it the same as purified drinking water that you get from grocery store ?

It will be on the same aisle as the drinking water and may say Purified Water or Distilled water. They are actually different but both are pretty much the same. They have all the minerals/impurities removed but one is usually by reverse osmosis (purified) and one by boiling/condensing, which is distilled water

You should top it off with what came from the factory which is 50/50 Mopar Purple coolant 10 year 150,000 miles
Ours came low from the factory that stuff is around 25.00 per gallon from the dealer. I complained to my selling dealer and they reimbursed me.

Ours also came without one of the AC valve caps 9.00

The PDI guys at the dealer were not doing their job.

Re: Coolant level below min

I am wondering why the coolent level of a brand new car is below minimum. Don't they do any kind of checks before shipping the car? We are planning to go to a 3000 trip tomorrow . We are little bit worried about this.

This is all supposed to be checked during the "PDI" Pre Delivery Inspection
The quality of work and effort these days and the lack of motivation to do things correctly has become slim to none. I talked to a fiend of mine who is a master Chrysler tech and he said it's simply takes to much time for them to deal with the parts dept. to find and order things like the correct AC cap and they get paid flat rate. - No Excuse for laziness in my book but thats how this industry has become at the dealership level.

In our case the coolant was around the minimum fill line. I like to keep them at the maximum fill line. I would make sure you do not have any leaks.

Don't worry a bit about it. Mine is also a bit below min and it never goes any lower. You might fill it to the min, and look again after 100 miles and it be a bit below the min. again. My guess is that it will never drop any lower. A light should come on inside if the coolant drops low enough to worry about it. It might be pushing out a little coolant out the overflow. Have a safe trip.

Here is the pictures from the coolant level when engine is cold. What color is the coolant supposed to be?

I would just have your dealer check it next time you have your Jeep serviced and you will be fine.
