Now that's a good idea. Save your Peak container and refill cheaper than Wally World with dealer approved stuff.
BTW Sams club sells it for around 10.00 a 2.5 gal container. Not a bad price either.....

Re: Def fluid

WK2Key, The reason I plan on doing the 5K oil change is because my JGC was built in May 2015. It had about 500 miles on it, being a dealer exchange at some point in time, when I bought it.

The oil change timetable is 1 year or 10,000 miles. Technically I guess the time table would start when I bought it in Oct. 2015 but I want to error on the safe side.

I also will be pulling a travel trailer this summer on a month long road trip and want to have a fairly fresh oil change when I leave. I won't be anywhere near 10,000 miles at that time. Heavy duty use changes the timeframe also.

It's not a waste of money to me, just adapting to my situation. I don't have money to burn, just trying to protect my investment in a very expensive vehicle.

Re: Def fluid

I buy BlueDef from Walmart and no problems for a couple of years. I check the mfg. date on the def box, never fill more than about 2/3's full, keep a copy of the receipt and mfg. date code panel off the box and check with an OTC DEF Refractometer when I add fluid.

You really keep receipts? I'm mesmerized by the fact that people do that. Like I've heard of a lot of people doing that, especially for fuel. Like do people really think the dealership is going to see the receipt and that's going to be the deciding factor whether or not they honor the warranty?

Lol. It seems like ALOT of effort for owning a car. Like the ownership is burdensome at that point.

I keep my last couple fuel receipts so if I get a bad tank that takes out my injectors or pump I'll know who dun it.

I had my whole CAT/SCR system replaced under warranty. If you go off of what the owners manual says for requirements, they can't hold it against you.

From Page 97 of the Diesel Supplement:

MOPAR Diesel Exhaust Fluid (API Certified) (DEF) or equivalent that has been API Certified to the
ISO 22241 standard. Use of fluids not API Certified to ISO 22241 may result in system damage.
Went to WalMart yesterday to buy their DEF. The label on WalMart's Supertech DEF fluid only says 'API Certified', but does not mention to what standard. It certainly does not mention ISO 22241.

So I was a little nervous and skipped it. I went to my Jeep dealer and bought it there, at 2x-3x the price. My backside still hurts and I'm still walking funny from that cost. Interesting thing is, the Mopar DEF label says the same thing, API Certified but no mention of ISO 22241.

I have to wonder, okay, API Certified, but to what standard(s)? Certified to what?? I work in medical device regulations, FDA regs, ISO 13485 and 62304 among many others, this is my profession. But I guess the Supertech DEF fluid from WalMart is okay because its label says the same thing that the Mopar label says. I will return to WalMart today and finish topping off. And save 2x-3x!

Re: Def fluid

Here are pictures from yesterday at WalMart - the labels from Supertech DEF. On the front of the jug, lower right, if you can't read it the white letters on black background says AMERICAN PETROLEUM INSTITUTE CERTIFIED DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID. Just above it, the red letters are for API.

And here are pictures from the Mopar DEF labels. On the front of the jug, to the right of MOPAR, it says AMERICAN PETROLEUM INSTITUTE CERTIFIED DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID.

It is the same label, except for color, as on the WalMart Supertech DEF.

I'm going back to WalMart today to top off my DEF with Supertech!

If you can find one, look for highway truck stops like love's or flying j. The few times I've actually used DEF I've gotten it from there and it's cost about $2.50 a gallon. I've switched to distilled water now and it's only .83 cents a gallon lol

Re: Def fluid

By Definition it cannot be labeled DEF unless it meets the ISO standard.. I'd bet a dollar to a donut that the stuff is bottled in the same factory that AdBlue or PEAK is made in and just sold cheaper. By virtue of volume Wal mart can Muscle any supplier in any market to market their own brand name with identical contents. This happens everyday in practically every consumer product line.. Same stuff sold cheaper via store brand name...
If Wal mart could sell Miller Lite under their own brand name, they would make a killing....Trust me.
