DEF Gauge Reset

The DEF level % Full gauge had turned red and the "Vehicle will not start in X miles" had been on for a couple of days in my 2014 Turbodiesel.

I replenished the DEF yesterday by adding 5.5 gallons. Every other time I've done this the DEF level gauge immediately recognizes the change in the volume of DEF in tank and registers on the gauge just like the fuel gauge; except for this time.

I have turned the vehicle off and on a half dozen times since yesterday and there's been no change on the gauge. However the "Vehicle Will Not Start in X miles" is no longer showing.

Do you think the fact that the message is gone means there is no imminent " vehicle will not start" process still in place?

Would disconnecting the battery reboot the system to where the DEF gauge would accurately register the new level?

If anyone else has had this happen I would appreciate your reply.

Re: DEF Gauge Reset

I had that happen to me and a day or so later it showed that the level should be where it needs to be with 5gallons.

Re: DEF Gauge Reset

I've had this happen several weeks ago. The countdown stopped but the gauge still displayed in the red. After I took it to the dealer they said they needed to replace the DEF tank. It's been on back-order since so I suspect this affecting others. While I was at the dealer I had my oil changed and they applied the most recent transmission flash. This ended up fixing the gauge.
