Re: DEF INJECTOR and Harness protection group buy

I located a source for "Rock Slider Washers" at FourTreks in Bell, Ca. They are cone shaped, gold zinc plated steel, and designed to protect the bolt head on 3/8"-7/16" dia. hardware .The cost was $6.00 per pair, which I
thought was reasonable, and they will ship this week.

I plan on using these on the bottom factory bolt that Dom shows on his injector plate, and possibly with a 3/8" Nutsert instead of the self drilling rearmost bolt. I'm a little worried about drilling a hole in the bottom "flange" of the frame and allowing water to enter and cause corrosion.

I ordered 5 pairs so I will have some extras if Dom or anyone else decides to make a pre-runner skid plate to replace the front fascia, similar to Rocky Roads with more coverage and a finished appearance.

Re: DEF INJECTOR and Harness protection group buy

Perfect. U guys can just order that. I really dont hav time right now for that.

But as far as self tapping it and water corrosion. If u self tap it ill prob get u guys some stainless version and i recommend maybe a dab of silicon to prevent water from going in frame. Idk. Just a thought

Here's the link in case anybody is interested: Rock Slidder Washer
EDIT: Holy crap they want over $10 to ship two washers, and I'm not that far from them! I might do a group buy if anybody's interested, and then mail them out USPS for way less. Please see my new thread on it here: Rock slider washers group buy

Man this brings up bad memories of cleaning up boats with galvanic corrosion. This is less of a concern for cars, but it still makes me want to find an alternative to drilling the frame. A dab of silicone will only be watertight for 9-12 months, tops. Throw some 3M 5200 on it and it'll last 10 years easily.

Re: DEF INJECTOR and Harness protection group buy

I didn't want to post a link in Dom's thread if he was still looking into making something similar. Fourtreks just sent a UPS Shipping notification- 4 hours after I ordered!!

I looked at the pictures on post #153 and #159 and it doesn't look like water could be trapped in that section of the frame. There's the slotted hole on the side of the frame, and another hole punched in the bottom at a lower level to the rear of the plate- so plenty of room for water drainage and air circulation. I still will use a Nutsert instead of the self tapping screw because it has a lot more thread length and is stronger than the few threads that the self tapper will cut in the thin frame sheet metal.

Thanks for posting the link Rumline

Re: DEF INJECTOR and Harness protection group buy

I think u guys will see once u get it u may not even put anything in the rear at all and thats why i said a piece of 3m double stick tape would do the trick . Only issue with that is that if u need to take it off that u will want to have some more double stick tape around. I just gave the options because i know how ppl feel about certain things done to there vehicle
