Another update info as of 3/4/2015 2:57 pacific time
Just got back from dealer and confirmed that Jeep came out with a DEF bracket which is suppose to solve the vulnerable def injector issue. Sales ppl looked at me all weirdo because I was that guy under the jeep taking pics and video and not wanting any help lol.
heres a pic for better reference. Look how much the harness is expose still. The injector is as well but not visible in this pic
Here is a view of no protection at all( use the big hole for reference to compare with picture above
Heres the JeepEcoDieselfix protection plate. YOu can clearly see how much more protection there is..
So, I feel this new OEM bracket will help out with some of the water forging and hitting puddles of water at high speed. Let me explain. I feel like the injector is the weak link here because at the smallest point of the injector, it's plastic. And when one charges water , the force of the water coming off the tire leverages itself off the frame between the harness In turn breaking it off at the injector. So yes this will help, SOMEWHAT. But are u kidding me Jeep? Why not go bigger and cover the whole damn thing? Why not just copy what I have ? Yeah the bracket takes care of some of the water issue. But what about road debris like tire strips and or whatever is laying on our hwy's. Let's not even talk about Murphy's law when talking about off roading lol.
I'm pretty convinced that who ever(@ fca) is in charge of design etc is just not that bright!! I mean you guys can clearly see that a lot of the harness is exposed let alone the injector itself. A branch or whatever sticking up can still tag the harness( outside of frame rail) and the injector ( inside the frame rail)
Are u guys willing to take that chance? I'm not obviously because I'm the maker of thejeepecodieselfix plate and I'm gonna swear mine is way better lol.
Looking at the bracket even more, for the 2014 and early 2015 that don't have the hole, if you went this route this new OEM bracket requires two holes to be drilled.
So now if you decide to use the jeepecodieselfix def protection plate, you will no longer need to drill into the frame because there is already mounting location in that location for the oem bracket jeep just added. YOu will just need to open up the rear pilot hole in the jeepecodieselfix plate and reuse the oem bolt. The Jeepecodieselfix protection plate can be installed in conjunction with the oem bracket now coming on some 2015's
