Have the dealership check the battery. Mine did this intermittently, and it was a low voltage issue. The computer shuts down some startup services if the voltage check is low. This happened to me, even though I had no problems staring the vehicle.

Pretty sure it's the 200 mile warning. Searching to confirm.

Re: DEF injector broke..

Taking a look at the owners manual diesel supplement (pp. 26-31), it looks like problems with the DPF will cause the vehicle to enter limp mode; DEF-related issues result in "will not restart in xxx miles" warnings.

Re: DEF injector broke..

so the first thing it says isservice def system see dealership soon.
after 50 miles it will enter the jeep will nto restart in xx miles so total miles until it wont restart is 250 miles. the dealership told me as long as you dont shut it off it wont actually enter limp mode or any of that stuff. just once you shut it off after that xx amount it wont turn on.

Re: DEF injector broke..

oh also expect at least a 20+ day parts delay due to how common this is and how little def modules they manufacture. So jeep told me I need to have a Jeep dealership fix it if i want to ensure my warrenty doesnt get voided, also its around a 8-900 dollar fix to have the dealership do it to keep your warrenty. So doms plate for less than 200.. or 800 your choice.

I still dont have my jeep back... other than that my jeep has been perfect no issues that others have had at all! love the vehicle!

Can you clarify...Is your dealership making you pay for this repair? I had my DEF injector get broke of while driving on a highway with standing water. My dealer performed the repair under warranty. This is a fairly well documented issue with an identified "fix" (with zip ties). That should be enough for them view it as a warranty issue.

If you do end up paying for this out of pocket, I'd go over your dealership to get your money back.

Re: DEF injector broke..

Mine broke at 1k miles from going through a puddle on the highway (road under the overpass had standing water) - the dealer replaced it under warranty with no issue. Had to wait a week before it was ready as parts were back logged (this was April 2014).

Because my jeep had mud on it, (it was covered petty good on the underbody and splashed up the sides like water does when you go through a muddy puddle... I had been there all weekend driving back and forth over this location for food runs and town runs etc. what I think happend was as the mud built up on it from going over the same location it got heavy or something and the last time I went over it I bet the splash plus the weight on it caused it to stress and break off, they said this was not "normal driving conditions" as a result they called it off roading. i tried calling jeep and they checked with the dealership apparently reviewed the photos and agreed with the dealerships assesment. i have shown the photos to some other dealerships and they said it would be very hard to argue... not to self. wash it next time... honesty will cost you around 1k

Re: DEF injector broke..

Got the RRT for def injector.

I've been taking the JGC to Norco jeep. Not my purchasing dealer. They did the RRT no problem with my plate on. In fact I had the service manager ask me about it. Setting up a meeting with them soon. .
