DEF Injector Question...

I just picked up a new Overland and now I wish I joined this forum before I bought anything. I'm so paranoid from reading all these DEF injector threads here and on another forum. I already have the DEF protector plate ordered.

Anyways, I don't know much about how this DEF infector is mounted or works, but I'm curious if submerging it in water is going to cause a malfunction. The manual says the Jeep can be ford water as deep as 20 inches. While I haven't measured the height of the cables/sensor, if I were to drive into water that was 20 inches deep, would the injector be submerged and risk malfunction or damage? If so, I think we all have a serious issue to take up with Chrysler/Jeep.

Has anyone thought about "social media shaming" Jeep/Chrysler into acknowledging and fixing this?

Re: DEF Injector Question...

It isn't the submersion in water which kills the injector, its the force of the water splashing up off the front passenger wheel that causes it to physically break. The plate should solve the issue. I have one on my car, drove through some pretty serious water on Sunday and all is still well.
