DEF Protection Plate - 2015 Model

Anyone notice a new hole in the frame on the 2015 models ?,
A second hole also appeared on the side with a panel behind it - looks like that can be tapped out.
I'm betting Jeep working on something.

Lol. That bottom hole looks like a good spot for mounting a plate. Hmm

Maybe they are prepping it for my plate.

Dom,

Will that hole mean that a 2015 owner does not have to drill a hole in the frame but just in the plate itself? That would seem to make the plate installation very simple. If you had the hole in next production run of plates they would be bolt on items, save for inserting the threaded receiver into the frame hole.

No I was just being sarcastic. I doubt that bottom hole is at the same location as my pilot hole on my def plate. Now using it to install my plate is another question. It could work. But from the looks of it , it looks a little too far forward than where I'm saying to drill.

As far as my plate and not drilling. Many have not and have used 3m hd double sided tape for that rear mounting location. I went as far as using 3m double side hd Velcro just in case that thing needs to come on and off.

Re: DEF Protection Plate - 2015 Model

With all the documented issues with this injector being busted it's beyond me it's not coming with a plate going forward. When I order looks like I'll be getting one of Dom's if I go diesel. Good to know Dom you don't have to drill if you prefer not to.

Re: DEF Protection Plate - 2015 Model

Very happy with my plate. I was one of the early adopter's and very happy that I did so. Rather than drill, I went with 20lb 3M double sided tape, which worked very well. No issues in over 13k miles.....

I need to reinstall Dom's plate after I get the RRT 14-075 kit done at the dealers this Thursday. At the moment, I kinda feel naked without it though...

DEF Protection Plate - 2015 Model

to original Post.... You were correct.

(this is a copy and paste to what i posted on another thread. Just trying to inform everyone)

Just got back from dealer and confirmed this. Sales ppl looked at me all weirdo cuz I was that guy under the jeep taking pics and video lol.

http://youtu.be/z7cncbnhiAA

So, I feel like this new OEM bracket will Forsure help out with some of the water forging and hitting puddle of water at high speed. Let me explain. I feel like the injector is the weak link here because at the smallest point of the injector, it's plastic. And when one charges water , the force of the water coming off the tire leverages itself off the frame between the harness I turn breaking it off at the injector. So yes this will help. But are u kidding me Jeep? Why not go bigger and cover the whole damn thing? Why not just copy what I have ? Yeah that might take care of the water issue. But what about road debris like tire strips and or whatever is laying on our hwy's. Let's not even talk about Murphy's law when talking about off roading lol.

I'm pretty convinced that who ever is in charge of design etc is just not that bright!! I mean you guys can clearly see that a lot of the harness is exposed let alone the injector itself. A branch or whatever sticking up can still tag the harness( outside of frame rail) and the injector ( inside the frame rail)

Are u guys willing to take that chance? I'm not obviously because I'm the maker of the plate and I'm gonna swear mine is way better lol.

Looking at the bracket even more, for the 2014 and early 2015 that don't have the hole, if you went this route this new OEM bracket requires two holes to be drilled.

I wonder if the supply of this part is what is slowing down recent CRD orders from hitting the line.

I doubt it. Pretty sure when they made these they mass produced it into the thousands.

Pretty sure it has to do with the Rams taking up all the motors.

Question Re: DEF Protection Plate - 2015 Model

They must have started to add those last couple of weeks, my 2015 Build date is Dec 18th 2014 and it has the holes but not the bracket.

I think the OEM bracket will solve the problem just as well.
Obviously Chrysler will not reimburse people who went out on their own to fix the original design flaw.....

Chrysler Customer Care response to this was: "Dealer delivered a flawed vehicle and you took delivery of it...."
pick it up with dealer.

Well do u at least have my plate? If so your better off with mine. Trust me.

When u get a chance if ever , go look at one in person! Pretty retarded of them to attempt to block it and go half ass. Jeep is really special.

Side note: Penske corporation is working with FCA and they are sending a 2015 Eco diesel grand Cherokee to Penske to do a big build for jeep Easter safari this year and hey specifically are requesting my protection plate as well as my fuel cap. It will be displayed at the Jeep booth. Woo hoo!!!

Pretty excited and happy about that.

Jeepecodieselfix for the win
