Diesel Leaking....

Just left the Jeep dealership because I has my Jeep inspected for a diesel leak. Any one else having a similar issue? They told me they are going to have to drop the tank to find the issue.....

Re: Diesel Leaking....

Just for idle curiosity's sake, how are you leaking diesel from your 6.4L Hemi? If you are, that might be the problem! LOL

The not so funny thing is I dump that SRT on 2014 Summit Diesel in December because that one was always leaking engine oil.... Now this one is leaking diesel fluid from some place around the tank. So they want to drop the whole tank assembly and look to see where it is leaking from...... They want the Jeep for a week and if any parts are on back order I will be out of a vehicle until who knows when.

Just might have had enough of this.....

Re: Diesel Leaking....

Seems like someone else posted recently that theirs is pushing diesel out of the tank after fill-ups. Is yours leaking constantly, or just upon fill-up (and shortly thereafter)?

I think it is only when I fill it up... Because right now it is less than half with no leaks I will fill it up today and see what happens.

Thanks
Matt

Re: Diesel Leaking....

It may just be sloshing out through a vent tube when the tank is completely full.

Re: Diesel Leaking....

After I first filled up my new 2014 GC I noticed a diesel leak...just a few drops per hour., but enough to concern me. The leak was at the base of the tank where the filler pipe joined the tank via a rubber hose. It looked like the leak was coming from further up the tube. The dealer asked me to drive for a couple of hundred miles to half empty the tank. I did, and as the tank level dropped the leaking slowed down. The dealer dropped the tank and couldn't fine any leaks from know places (sender unit??). The only explanation was that on my first fill, some diesel spilled down the drainage hole below the filler and worked its way down the filler pipe. I am always very careful to avoid any spillages, but since then the 'leak' has never happened again...but I am now ultra careful (paranoid) filling up. Having said that, the dealer had experienced cases of leakage from 2011/12 diesel tanks but I'm not sure the exact location.
Good luck....curious to see what the dealer finds
