Exclamation Diesel no longer an option.

I was on the Jeep website yesterday and the EcoDiesel is no longer an option for the Grand Cherokee.

I hope this is only a 2017 issue and not the end of the road for the EcoDiesel!

Re: Diesel no longer an option.

Yep, It's at least over for MY 2017, that's for sure ! Definitely makes the Eco D outlook cloudy... What's going to happen to all the ones already built? There has to be thousands...!
Many say their value will decrease, But there is an outside chance it could INCREASE too.....

Re: Diesel no longer an option.

I am really disappointed about this. I was going to order an EcoDiesel as soon as they were available. Not sure what to buy now and have been waiting all this time.

Well if you want a JEEP capable diesel, there aren't really many other options.... If you just want a diesel SUV, the JAG F Pace is certainly a viable option, Again, its not a transfer case, rock crawling, 4LO, kind of an animal.... but my wife fell in love with it and it is avg 40-45 MPG highway in real world reviews. We are going to give it a try....

Re: Diesel no longer an option.

The FPace also isn't already outdated looks wise, uses better materials, and has excellent dealer support, I'm pretty sure it's also safer. I'll build a Zj/Wj as a toy but not get screwed by Fiat for a German designed Mexican built american twist. You want a truck buy an oversized overpriced Tahoe the wk2 is at the end of its good looking failure prone rope with crap dealers.

Re: Diesel no longer an option.

Wow this isn't good news. I am unconcerned about resale value or anything like that but it is sending a clear indication that EPA is unable, unwilling or unprepared to negotiate a settlement with FCA.
Since they are totally mum on the subject we are all left in the dark for a solution. I initially thought they would come to some mutual solution but this has been too long now and I can understand FCA just dropping this as an option.
Standing by for more updates just like everyone else.

Re: Diesel no longer an option.

I would not write the diesel off just yet. I think the new head of the EPA is going to put a very large broom thru the whole wretched organisation!

Re: Diesel no longer an option.

The Ecodiesel option has only been taken down in the "build & price" section. It still shows up on the engines section of the GC main page. My guess is that this has to do with the delay with the EPA and they are not totally dropping the engine yet. There is still a lot of unknowns and things up in the air on this subject. I wouldn't jump to conclusions (unless you have one of those mats from Office space).

Unfortunately the website also talks about the advantages of the new 2014 Grand Cherokee with the new EcoDiesel. I really hope the diesel is not dead!

Re: Diesel no longer an option.

Can we pull up all the threads where the diesel lovers said people were crazy and it was just a small issue. Nothing like VW. The value will actually be higher for the diesel and so on and so on.

Does the F-Pace match your dainty man-bag?

Do the delicate knobs preserve your manicure?

Looking at the 40+ FPace TSB's, I see your ability to determine what's a good vehicle is as polished as your ability to write clearly.

Wow, imagine making the payments on that delicate, glittering little Jag and have to deal with this crap right off the lot:

09/13/16Issue: a 'creak noise' may be evident from the rear of the vehicle while driving.

09/13/16Transmission and DrivetrainSituation: a harsh gear engagement -- park-to-drive and/or neutral-to-drive -- may be evident when the vehicle is cold (below 68?f / 20?c).

09/13/16Electrical and Air ConditioningIssue: report of intermittent or no camera image when selecting reverse gear rear, black screen.
