Diesel Nozzel Fill Spout Came Out With Nozzel

Looks Like I will need to take a trip to the dealer. My last fill up I go to pull my nozzle out of the receiver and the receiver comes out with it like 6" or so of it. I can see it is held in by a 1/4 turn so I put the receiver back in. In all the years I have owned cars, trucks, tractors, etc never had this happen.

Anyone else have this happen? Looks to me like it is designed to be installed that way but I never twisted anything just filled as I always do. I am at one year 3 months and 17,000 miles. Doing an oil change this week too.

Ouch! So did the fill tube secure back in with a twist or is it still loose inside the panel? Is it just plastic detents that hold it in?

You can just pull it out. It is held in place by on small plastic tab which does lock in but flimsy at best and pulls right back out as I demonstrated to the service writer.

If I can and the weather doesn't suck too bad I will take pics of this...

I recall one of our members having his nozzle stuck in the receiver but it didn't pull out.

Man I love driving this Jeep and a few things this minor is no big deal to me...

Re: Diesel Nozzel Fill Spout Came Out With Nozzel

Dealership reseated the nozzle and said it had just come loose. Nothing broken but if your experience with diesel nozzles is like mine they are heavier than gas nozzles and unless you hold the nozzle up so it doesn't bend the nozzle receiver this might happen to you...

So did diesel splash or leak out when you drove around until you had the dealer reseat it?

Re: Diesel Nozzel Fill Spout Came Out With Nozzel

Nothing came out the receiver is before the spring mounted cap that keep diesel from splashing out. As is true with most diesels I have owned I pump til the nozzle shuts off then stop. In my SuperDuty if I did that I could add 4 more gals to it because of foam. I am sure that is true with my JGC too and just don't need to fill it to the bream.

Very flimsy design by the way.

Ive had the diesel pump spirals get somewhat stuck in the fill tube. Have to be very careful how much you push it in and how it is pulled out when full. On occassion have had to "screw it back out" as I also feel it may damage or rip out the filler tube.
