The plug is reusable but if you damage it,it can be purchased separate of the pan.
Which one did you put in? The signature multi vehicle or the oe fuel efficient transmission fluid? I've definitely thought about it and would love to use AMSOIL too. Just wanna make sure I won't fry my trans.

As they say, it is still technically defined as a free country. I will note that the Amsoil warranty text might not cover you in this drain/refill scenario because we aren't completely replacing the fluid (unless you are doing a pan replacement too) and thus it will be a mix of factory fill and amsoil. Best of luck with your warranty experiment.

Protip. Where did you obtain it? Have the part number?

I was just stating there are alternatives to Mopar and Lifeguard 8. I think Pentosin even makes an equivalent fluid.
So idk if you actually read the warranty, but this little bit jumped out:

"If the AMSOIL lubricant is defective in materials, design and workmanship, AMSOIL will (1) replace the defective lubricant; and (2) at the option and cost of AMSOIL, repair or replace components damaged by the defective AMSOIL lubricant."

Sounds like the replacement/ repair piece is at AMSOILs discretion...

But if anyone is interested it looks like redline makes a fluid that specifically states it meets or exceeds lifeguard 8.

Red Line Synthetic Oil - Gear Oil for Manual Transmissions - D6 ATF
I do see were the AMSOIL Signature Series Fuel-Efficient Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid does meet the spec for the zf 8spd but the AMSOIL Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid does not meet the spec for the zf 8spd.

However for a $30 per fluid change savings to use the amsoil or redline that I may only do every 60k miles I'm going to stick with the lifeguard 8. if there was a substantial cost difference between them there may have been more to think about.

Now we just got to find a decent price on that pan filter

The AMSOIL only had the cert for zf6. And idk where you saw $30 but the redline is like $12.50...

Eh, its like $17/liter for ZF's Lifeguard8 vs $12/liter for "whatever", times 6 liters for the drain/fill... roughly $30 in savings.

$30 per fluid change difference is what I was saying above. meaning if redline is $12 and lifeguard is $17 your savings is $5 a bottle or $30 ($5 x 6 bottles) for the whole fluid change which isn't all that much of a savings to me over all

If you look at the amsoil sheet for supported fluids at link below for the AMSOIL Signature Series Fuel-Efficient Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid it lists Chrysler Mopar 68157995A which is the Chrysler fluid part number for the 8spd. 68157995A is lifeguard 8 just repackaged for Chrysler. as well as listing Shell M-L12108.

Its here 12/$209 = $17.40 per bottle. its the best price around for the lifeguard 8 which is often twice that much
LifeGuard 8 Transmission Fluid

so that brings the fluid to a more reasonable level. but $250 for that pan filter is still a bit high. still need to find that cheaper

Fill plug 68145443AA
Drain plug 68174052AA

I used the Amsoil Signature Series Fuel-Efficient Synthetic Automatic transmission fluid. Code ATL

I posted in a thread started by Belto "Trans oil change?" In Engine Performance/Intakes/Exhaust section of the forum.

I swapped fluid first while I was locating tooling to remove the pan. The front 4 bolts are a pain because of the cross member.

How many miles you have on it? Have you had any issues like people claim happen in the zf when using non lifeguard fluid?
