When I get a few minutes I'm going to drop the plate, remove the velcro, 3M tape the plastic shim to the plate, then add velcro to the top of the shim. Should defeat the rattle permanently without requiring any further tape/retape if the plate needs to be temporarily removed.

I've had Dom's plate for well over a year and never had a problem like this until I had to have the CAT and DEF injector replaced. The dealer removed and replaced the plate to get at the DEF injector, and now I have this rattle at just about 1500 rpm. Dammit.

Your shim idea should work for me as well.

Re: DOM's Injector Plate- Vibration

Just like to comment on my own experience - I've had DOM's plate for many miles, too, all without a single rattle. And I didn't drill or otherwise secure the back half of the plate. However, I took the vehicle in for service (a leaking oil pan, fixed under warranty), and I think when they put it on the lift, one of the arms crushed the plate. It is still intact, but i noticed it is a bit "flatter" than before. And now I have the dreaded "rattle" that happens under certain RPMs. HOWEVER, I got under the car and noticed that now the DEF-protector side of the plate is now contacting the DEF injector cooling vanes...I think that is what is causing the rattle. A little bend or two and an extra shove and I got it away from the injector just a millimeter or so and now I have no rattle. (I also bent the back of the plate back into place.)

Re: DOM's Injector Plate- Vibration

I honestly think it's either that , but more likely the rear of the plate where the double stick would be and /or the harness actually vibrating off the plate.

I have the double stick with self tapper method and its rock solid.

Re: DOM's Injector Plate- Vibration

I had the same rattle. Rivnut was loose in the frame (just tapped in the first time). Removed the nut inserted a new one properly placed with the bolt nut tighten method , reattached the plate and the rattle is gone.
