Driver heater in seat and steering wheel after software updates

I have the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel. A weird issue is going on ever since I had the 8 software updates the dealer said I needed. The issues is the driver side heater on the seat and in the steering wheel keep coming on, so I have to manually shut it off. The signature is as follows: When I start the car up first thing in the morning no issues. Once I turn the car off when I get to my destination and then turn it back on when I leave, the drivers side seat and steering wheel heater come on. This happens about 3 out of 5 times. Never at first start up but always after I shut it off and start it again after I driven it. Anyone seen this issue? Mike

Re: Driver heater in seat and steering wheel after software updates

Hi Mike,
Dont know if this helps but I know that under certain temperature (not sure how) the heated seat and steering wheel come on by themselves, its a preset from the factory..at least in my case.
Maybe when you start your car in the garage is not cold enough but then when you arrive at destination its colder outside and thats why when starting the heat comes on by itself ?...do I make sense ?..
In my case it works that way, under 4 degrees centigrade ( I believe its aprox. 16 Fahrenheit) it comes on automatically and I have to shut it off manually.
Rgds.

It is possible your heated seat and heated steering wheel are operating correctly. The default setting in Uconnect is for them both to come on at 40 degrees or below automatically. If you are parking in a garage at your home it is quite possible it never gets below 40 degrees inside there. Once you drive and park the car outside it is possible it will be 40 degrees or below outside. Same thing happens with the vented seats if you have those too. The default setting in Uconnect is 80 degrees for the vented seats.

Re: Driver heater in seat and steering wheel after software updates

Victor good theory. It hasn't been that cold when the car has been out after leaving the garage. Maybe in the low 30's at most. Maybe I will look in the manual see what it says. I did notice looking at the uconnect that you can set the heater in the seat and steering wheel to come on when you start up. My is configured off. When I start the car it doesn't come on. Just after I shut it down and start it again. Happened after the updates. Thanks for you input Victor, appreciate it. Mike

Re: Driver heater in seat and steering wheel after software updates

Mac and Victor. I think you are on to something. I read the owners manual and saw the 40 deg threshold. I went into uconnect under auto comfort and saw that the driver side heat for seats and the steering wheel was set to all starts. I set it to off. We will see if it stays in that configuration. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
Mike

check your remote start comfort settings in your uconnect and verify that box is not checked if you dont want it to happen. If its checked the seat and steering wheel will always come on when you start the car. i had the same issue
