Nope. At the moment it's straight #2 petrodiesel with a cetane booster / gel inhibitor additive. It's not even winterized #2/#1 blend. Not that it matters to the fuel economy, of course, because it was the same all last winter.

I get about 23 to 25 mpg in the winter at 70 mph on the flat interstate with my stock Forteras inflated to 42 psi cold. In the summer it bumps up to ~27 mpg on the interstate with the same conditions.

I was getting about 25 mpg out of the 2013 WK2 Limited Pentastar I rented (under the same driving conditions): it's basically the same fuel economy. Maybe I rented an exceptional Pentastar and my EcoDiesel is on the other end of the bell curve. Oh well. I like my diesel.

I get about 19-20 in my city driving/work commute. But I also changed to bigger tires, so I lost about 2-3 mpg.

I see 30-32mpg on a flat interstate at 70. Crazy how different two engines can be.

9.4 L/100 km (25 mpg) vs 7.6 L/100 km (31 mpg) comes out to be about a gallon of diesel more per 100 miles. Call it three bucks.

Annoying, but what can one do? If anything, I'd guess it's the drivetrain rather than the engine.

Re: Eco Diesel Mileage

The biggest factor in MPG is the driver.

Re: Eco Diesel Mileage

100% city driving recently, very cold here in chicago until recently. B20 and PDSK for both tanks.

last tank: 17.9 hand calc, 20.4 evic
I turned off the mpg gauge and had fun with the torque. I DID spill about a half gallon with a broken diesel pump (ruined my plastidipped wheel ugghhh), otherwise this was the farthest off my evic has been.

tank before last: 19.8 hand calc, 20.5 evic
drove normally with eco mode on.

I'm seeing some pretty staggering differences in mpg based on trans temp alone. I drove 30 miles into the city today (avg low 20s) and the trans was only 140 when I got there. On the return trip (same route, an hour later) with the trans heated up I averaged 27+ and that was with fairly bad traffic.

Re: Eco Diesel Mileage

Wow, 13 mpg! How? That's what I use to get in a lifted on 37s 600 hp 7.3 powerstroke with a 4 speed transmission. I just don't see how it's possible in this vehicle.

My wife notoriously gets bad mpg in all her vehicles and she is averaging mid 20s so far.

Cold, short distances, entirely in-city, "screw you" stoplight synchronization where the lights turn red just as you reach them in order to maximize the time spent stopped.

Also, 13 mpg is about as bad as it gets. For example, it was 15.2 mpg yesterday. Still, that V8 Lexus got about 18 mpg in those circumstances.

I still wonder if those "4WD Shift In Progress" EVIC messages have anything to do with it.

I have now owned my Jeep GC4X2 eco diesel for a year and have 20000 miles. Average logged mileage is 28.5 mpg. In town 23-24. Best on a trip 31.7 mpg on a trip to Virginia and back-driving speed limit. I think it is still getting a little better-breaking in. Not a single repair needed so far. Way better mileage, above 60 mph, than my previous Highlander Hybrid.

Re: Eco Diesel Mileage

Hybrids are only effective when there is frequent braking and accelerating or standing still. On the highway they deplete their batteries quickly and there's little to recharge them so it's all up to the engine (usually gas powered).

Re: Eco Diesel Mileage

We have had our GC Eco-D for a about 3 weeks now. My wife is averaging 25.5 mpg going by the computer. That is 60-70% in town driving.

She definitely drives it nicely as it's the most expensive car she has ever had.

She drove her previous Cruze Diesel pretty hard and averaged 33 mpg lifetime for that vehicle but that average was brought up by the occasional highway trip. Day to day was more like 30 mpg.

Overall we took very little hit in mpg for going to such a more capable machine.

Re: Eco Diesel Mileage

I have never seen 25mpg with 70% around town driving.
