* Wet road for most of the trip and very busy, 8.4l/100 or 27.2 mpg the best I could obtain with cruise on & eco off. Still a lot better than my previous vehicle.

My model is a 1/14 build Laredo. i know it's only rim size but do the limited & summit/Overlander owners with 20" tyres get any better consumption?

I see posts with 7's for speeds of 117 per klm hour. there's no way I could achieve these figures unless it was downhill the whole way.

Very close to first service now

* Sitting higher up following heavy spray from vehicles is an added bonus in the GC. Also saw about 8 WK2's on the road yesterday. Wondering if any were members on here.
I assume your engine has NO DEF?

DEF solves the Nox issue in the exhaust system. Without DEF NOX is dealt with in the combustion chamber in 2 ways, by increasing EGR % and retarding injection timing. Both are bad for fuel efficiency. Also doing these 2 things also increases PM output due to ineffiecent combustion so the DPF has to catch more soot, and go thru more regens further hurting mpg.

In the US, when we had DPFs but no DEF (MY 2008-2010) the diesels were getting poor mpg and performance and they could benefit a lot from programming and delete kits. Once they added the DEF the stock mpg and performance jumped way up, the emissions system related failures went way down (cause less soot), and the benefits of a deletion became notably less profound.

My wife uses her NA GC Eco-D 90% in town and we have a lifetime average of 26.6mpg. Pretty sweet!

PS. If your engine has DEF, well then ignore all of the above and try airing up your tires! LOL

Thanks, but no to DEF. All the Australian WK2 diesels have the DPF fitted.

Might check my tyre pressures though, actually I do check them, lol ; 2.4Bar (thats about 34.8psi) they do go up to 2.8 (40 psi) at cruising speed 114klm ( 70mph)

Re: Eco Diesel Mileage

I have a 2014 Jeep GD Summit with the eco diesel. I installed a dry style air system and the mileage went from 27.1 to 30.9. I was traveling at 75 mph or more in Idaho at 80 MPH limit. Did have some wind but not pulling a trailer. Happy with the mileage and power.
Mileage has improved after 5000 miles from 24.6 to 27.1. Real satisfied with the Air Raid air cleaner system. Took about an hour from start to finish on the install.

67HR, So just to clarify: you do NOT have Diesel Exhaust Fluid on your Jeep?

Re: Eco Diesel Mileage

Yes I do. The system I installed is for air intake. Hoe this helps I made an error it is an AFE system not Air Raid.

No Australian jeep (export version) has DEF, DEF is not responsible for my fuel figures either (although I run my tires at 40PSI cold) which might explain why they are better than 67HR on the highway.

The airaid website doesn't list the ecodiesel engine as an option, can you post what part number you used or ordered for yours please?

Any pics?

Re: Eco Diesel Mileage

The EVIC is usually about 0.5 to 1 MPG higher than hand calculations so I don't know how accurate the instantaneous mileage is, but it said 38 MPG at 60 MPH on a nearly flat stretch of highway (elevation drops about 1 foot per mile as we live on the bed of a glacial lake).

Interesting. I keep a fuel & maintenance log and have logged every gallon I've ever put in, with hand calculated per-tank and cumulative overall MPG at each fill-up. At 19,000 miles so far I'll have to see how the MPG hand calculations compare to the EVIC. To date, if memory serves, my overall hand calc'd MPG is in the very low 20s, which is still better than my 4-cyl 2001 Honda CR-V. I have a heavy foot and am almost always driving faster than traffic. In my mind if I'm not passing other cars along my way, I feel like I'm not making good progress.

Re: Eco Diesel Mileage

I'm at 10k miles and let me just say driving habit seems to affect the mpg big time. I took a 2.5hr each way trip a few weeks ago and ended up with 29.7 on the evic. This particular trip was 50-60 mph speed limit most of the way.

My daily commute where I'm doing 80 mph for 20 miles each way then throw in around town stop and go traffic I average low 20's

Re: Eco Diesel Mileage

After 2600 miles my average is 28.1 on my 4x4. I had a low tank of 25 which was when I did a little off roading for about 40 miles and my best calculated tank was a 350 mile run with varying speeds from 55-75 and I just got a little over 31.
Can't wait to get 20k miles or so on her to see where the mileage settles at. Like Kinsman74, I have a feeling when I go back to work tomorrow that my mileage is going to tank. Gotta do 75-80 or get ran over and quite a bit of stop and go bumper to bumper. I think that 28 will drop to 22 real quick.
