It may take a law suit to get the answers.

Re: Eco diesel towing

We are wrapping up a trailer trip in the Colorado and Mew Mexico mountains. Like others, I have learned to ignore the temp guage "kissing the red" on long climbs in nearly 20,000 miles of towing our 4500 lb TT (fully loaded) to date. But, curiously, the temp guage has not climbed so close to the red on this trip-- just a little ways into the third quadrant. It tows like a dream!

67HR, those mirrors look nice, but I was looking for something like these that are less permanent.

I like the stock mirrors and they are auto dimming also, so not sure how that would be affected.

Re: Eco diesel towing

The GDE tune is undetectable at the dealer level. I always tell them no PCM updates when it is in for service and I make sure they add that to the service invoice. No issues here with warranty claims.

Bounty Hunter,

In a perfect world perhaps.
However, my main concern is that if we were out on the road with our travel trailer and our JGC went into limp mode and/or our JGC needed to be towed and taken to a local dealer miles from home. Then what would happen?

If it WAS taken in and it WAS a major issue that was a warranty repair and it got escalated up to FCA regional.....then what?

The dealer will likely flash your module and your tune will be over written. Nothing more or less.

That's where you roll the dice. I've seen no evidence over on the Ram ED forum of anyone being denied warranty service due to a GDE tune. I have read of a couple GDE users with catastrophic engine failures that were covered under warranty.

GDE has made the claim they will provide all their programming information to any customer to fight any warranty claim, the programming info clearly showing that the programming is within safe operating parameters of these vehicles and can not 'cause' a failure. But are your pockets deep enough to fight FCA?

I tuned at 459mi and haven't looked back since. Checked my oil at 3k into my most recent oil change and it looks like new. I tuned for longevity, all the other benefits are extra perks.

Re: Eco diesel towing

Yes, that was my point and, given the way FCA have covertly changed the oil spec for the pre-2016's, I don't wish to cross any swords with them.

This is our first Jeep and I'm just getting to bond with it again after our initial problems plus all the TSB's, reflashes, recalls etc.

We both like it a lot but FCA haven't exactly given me a "warm and fuzzy".

Now, our 2011 Kia Optima is another story.....probably one of the top 2 cars I've ever owned as far as functionality and reliability goes.

Re: Eco diesel towing

Wireman,

I spoke with KSource and, at present, they don't have one for the Jeep in the pipeline. However, the fella I spoke with will pass this on to their development team and he will get back to me. If they do have any questions regarding how many folks here would buy one of the clip-ons, I will post and perhaps we can ascertain how many of us would like to get a set.

As soon as, or if, I hear anything, I'll revive this thread and post the contact information.

I like the look of these.....an elegant solution
