Ecodiesel oil level

Just got it back from service last week and thought I would check the oil level. It is above the max line (cold) and touching the rod that connects to the flat part of the dipstick. From memory, overfilling a diesel can be as bad as under filling.

Anyone know for sure?

Re: Ecodiesel oil level

They put 10qts instead of 8 in mine. It read the same level as yours. Drain the extra qts immediately .... i didnt catch the dealership overfill quick enough and it blew out my oil pan gasket. Dropping mine off at dealer today to repair the oil leak their overfill caused.

Re: Ecodiesel oil level

Significant oil leak

check this thread about my overfill and leak

i saw no signs of oil aeration due to the overfill when i checked the distick or when we drained the extra 2qts out and the dealership claims it would take more than 2qts over to cause engine damage but 2qts over was enough to make my oil pan gasket leak in several places.
