Engine hours

Okay, I admit it: I have no idea how to determine the number of hours on my engine. I have searched the owners manual, I have pored over all the EVIC screens more than once, I have searched the fora, I checked with my OBDII scanner using the Torque app, and I even looked in the 8.4AN engineering menu... all for naught.

So, if it's obvious to everyone else, then I have been exposed as an imbecile.

Can someone tell me how to determine the engine hours on my WK2 EcoDiesel?

Re: Engine hours

Would the Elapsed Time suffice?
I can't recall if this continues while car is not running but on. It is shown under Trip Information section A & B. You may have reset one or both of these.
I have left A untouched and reset B when I refill.

I took this pic today when I filled up just before resetting it.

Thanks. It might be close, except it keeps counting up while the accessories are on (I like to listen to music while working around the Jeep). Also, I reset it all the time. If it's the only proxy measurement, then maybe I will have to use that instead.

The WK had an engine hours readout on the EVIC. It sounds like SRT has it as well someplace, and it seems like (here) export models have it.

That is from a MY13 owner, from memory a Trailhawk.
I am export MY14 and I am sure our section with that is the same as yours. I will double check tomorrow, it's 2:21am so going to bed now.

Thanks. Did your JGCs change much from MY13 to 14? I drove a USA 2013 JGC Limited last summer and the EVIC seemed very similar to my 2014's when I picked it up six months later. I didn't specifically look for engine hours on the 2013, though.

Thanks, but it would probably just be easier to keep a stopwatch in the vehicle than to use that method (haha).

As for reasons, well, first and foremost, I want to know. Also, I believe engine hours will be a more accurate gauge of my engine's age (as opposed to mileage), and I know that it's an available user-accessible data point on some previous versions of the JGC, etc.

I was hoping someone knew off the top of their head and I was just missing something obvious. However, it's starting to look like Chrysler has taken this information away from current editions of EVIC.

Re: Engine hours

Hobbs meter installation might be the only answer but you would think someplace in the JGC software the computer has this information...

It's so odd to drop a data element like engine hours during a mid-cycle model year upgrade like 2013 to 2014.

I'm sure the data is still in there, they are just making it hard to access.
