Re: EVIC "Service Electronic Throttle Control"

According to my dealer it has nothing to do with the block heater but rather the relay for the heating element in the DEF tank. They did not state if it was a common problem or a one off issue. Ill be sure to ask when/if I pick it up Monday.

Re: EVIC "Service Electronic Throttle Control"

I feel lucky!
It happened to me, same same. Cold, block heater plugged in, stuck in 3rd.

But, I took mine to my local dealer, that didn't even sell me the unit. They took it in and flashed an update while I waited. It took about an hour and it's all fixed.

Had a similar issue happen the other night. Temp was hovering around 0F and I was driving for hours through the mountains. All of a sudden while I was going up a hill the 'service electronic throttle' message appeared and car wouldn't shift out of 5th. Finally got to a city and pulled over. Popped the hood and there was snow everywhere, diesels really do run quite cold! Cleared some snow, started the car again and all seemed fine. Drove a few miles then needed to pass a truck going up hill, same thing happened. I managed to make it to my destination being light on the throttle. The next few days temps were warmer, 10-30F and I haven't had the problem since. Code was for Turbo Underboost. I figure some sensor froze in engine bay, but pretty disconcerting!

Re: EVIC "Service Electronic Throttle Control"

I'm sitting at the dealer now. Same error. Towing a snowmobile trailer driving up hill, makes a loud noise like a fan kicking on when I accelerate and bam.....service throttle control. 5th time to the dealer in 2 months with this thing. So frustrated.

I was contacted by the dealer earlier this week, the software patch is now available to be flashed.

Is this a service bulletin or how should we ask for this at the dealer ("DEF heater relay software update")? They always seem to have a deer in the headlights look when you try explaining something to them.

Re: EVIC "Service Electronic Throttle Control"

The SFU is at the dealership. Throwing turbo underboost, ATC failure, exhaust filter full, and will not regen. The dealer has to manually attempt the regen three times before the Uni would comply. Wife is not pleased. The 911 phone also is down. Went to limp mode twice. They have opened a star report (I mentioned the flash bulletins and they did then). I am off for a week at a family reunion and will be taking the loaner minivan. 8000 miles but I still live the Jeep. Hopefully this gets corrected sooner.
