Had to get my Diesel JGC home and needed my work vehicle to go back. Impressive results
U-Haul trailer + Chevy Traverse = approx. 6700 Lbs well with in JGC 7200 max tow rating.
Towed 300 miles @ 60 MPH = 20.8 MPG (figured by hand)
Traverse gets 20.2 @ 65 with no tow
I used the same setup to tow a small and light 1960s car. No Chevy Traverse, that. I towed from Santa Cruz to Santa Clara, up and over the summit on Hwy 17 over the Santa Cruz Mountains. The JGC CRD barely broke a sweat. It is an awesome tow rig.
I've posted before about how I love towing with my 2014 JGC diesel. We just returned from a 6,000 mile round trip camping vacation from Wisconsin to New Mexico via the Rocky Mountains. We tow a 21 foot travel trailer, probably 4500 to 5000 lbs all-in, depending on how much water we carry and how often we dump. Smooth and flawless, with 17 mpg for the trip. Added to our previous trips (including 11,000 miles round trip to Alaska last year), this makes about 25,000 miles of towing that trailer so far, in all kinds of terrain, on all kinds of roads (including on this trip a horribly rutted dirt/gravel road into Chaco Canyon), up and down steep grades and 10,000+ foot mountain passes, all of it fabulous! Plus it's just plain fun to drive, with or without the trailer!
