Re: exhaust system regeneration process

Mazda still going and narvara still going but new jeep still at dealers for 5 weeks with no part in sight. Called them today and they said "Dont know when Chrysler will send the part". Highly skilled buck passing. No mention of a software fix. I am calling Chrysler Customer care tomorrow to ask where to from here. ie $ return, pay for car loan, magic part to arrive this week !! ??
Fortunately I have last 15 yo car still to drive and am going away os in 2 weeks so it might be ready then: my level of tactfulness is however dropping fast and a few words I didn't know are coming out during our discussions......
Started my 1965 beetle last weekend... still goes so the computer must be working.......

Re: exhaust system regeneration process

Hi Paul, I thought I was badly off, mine has been in since 12 December, luckily they have been providing me with a hire car all this time. Used some of those new words you are talking about. Found out that the PCM had been sent by Toll road freight from Mackay sometime after the 15th and arrived Melbourne on the 29th where it has been sitting there in a warehouse no one knew what it was there for so just left it there until I raised a stink yesterday. They were supposed to ring me back today to let me know if it had been found and the software upgrade done. They didn't. The software upgrade has been available at dealers since the 19th December and they are wondering why I am getting upset. Not Customer Care fault says customer care. Dealer didn't follow instructions. Marvellous, dealer has been ringing them each week to get the hire car extended but it didn't dawn on anybody there might have been something go wrong. I have been checking about twice weekly, but the dealer didn't bother to look into it until I wrote a forthright letter to the selling dealer with a copy to FCA customer care. I am not getting any happier by the day. Fred

Re: exhaust system regeneration process

It is this spare part shit that will have me leaving the brand regardless of whether or not we ever have any issues with our GC.

Yep... same here. It's a shame these tools can't manage an express air bag... especially when these are parts that should be locally stocked. Nowhere is more than 3 days away if you give a shit about your customer.

For all you guys off the road, I hope "y'all get sorted out real soon now".

Cheers,
Steve

Re: exhaust system regeneration process

Sent cranky letter to chrysler today by fax and got phone call in 30 mins confirming 19 dec software fix is at the dealers and officially implemented and that no parts are required to fix issue. They also said all parts are held in Victoria so will check why dealer claimed part was coming from usa.
The truth is out there......Paul

Re: exhaust system regeneration process

Another hour later and another call from Chrysler Customer care saying a part was still needed bec the exhaust temp sensor failed again for reasons not known. Local dealer has 4 jeeps out the back with the same fault and Chrysler is trying to blame the dealer. Part had not yet been ordered so re orderd today to arrive 17 Jan ... Strange how I can get orders from USA in 5 days ....
Chrysler now has no record of their phone calls to me 12 Dec about same issue.
They said they have requested the dealer send them a pic of the faulty part for them to view..... is this science or science fiction... their latest plan was to put a multi meter on it.... something an apprentice does 1 minute after removing usually ... I suspect these techs look at a computer readout and swap parts over and then marvel that they fail again 4 weeks later..
So no car for next three weeks.... Paul

Re: exhaust system regeneration process

Miscommunication seems to be very common. As I have said my part was send south by ordinary Toll Road took 9 days to get to Melbourne then nobody knew why it was there so just put it asside until I holered. Was supposed to get a call when it had left Melbourne - didn't happen. So rang the dealer and they had already rung Customer Care and have been told it was sent air express yesterday. Was to call back when received but hasn't called. Will be on the blower first thing tommorow. Very frustrating for both of us. Fred

Re: exhaust system regeneration process

That's good news Paul. I was in Mackay on Friday and loo and behold they had the bonnet up on my Jeep and were refitting the PCM which had just been received back from Melbourne. Apparently they did nothing to it in Melbourne, just sent it back because the December fix was better than what they intended to do to it. So they just sent it back and told the dealer to refit it, do the December upgrade and a reeburn. They did and were to send it back by tilt tray but could not get one before they closed. So were are to get it back on Monday the 12th which is exactly 1 month since it was taken in. Still haven't had an official reply to my letter from either the selling dealer or Jeep. It will still be a while before I trust it. Fred

So those without this upgrade can sit on their time bomb and hope it doesn't go off before the next service at a dealer.
Well that notice would of been good to know. I'm now in Limp Mode with no notice from the EVIC and have 36000 km completed. First time. Needs a full service to correct.

Re: exhaust system regeneration process

Make sure the dealer knows about Dec update bec I had to tell them… I know its unbelievable … They will want to do a diesel burn to reset the computer, can't see why bec they all agree the exhaust is not blocked….
My GC still going well and has done 2000 k since I got it back last month.
I see our diesel engine is the same motor as the Maserati Ghibli and the Dodge Ram. VM Motori must be doing something right… Paul

I'm not worried about the motor, it's the regen system that's bugging the crap out of me....
