Re: FCA Changes Motor Oil Spec

I wondered the same....I can see switching but why dump all the oil from new ones on the lot. That's weird unless it's to correct an issue......hmmmmmmm

Re: FCA Changes Motor Oil Spec

I am due for an oil change here pretty soon. I am wondering since this is an RRT if that means it is being replaced to us at no charge. Previous RRTs have been at no charge, but I'd be curious about this one. I'd be more than happy letting them change my oil for free...

However, this is just one more thing I as the customer have to micromanage and make sure that dealers do properly. I shouldn't have to rely on forums and websites to identify and figure out what work/updates/fluids/etc. my Jeep needs and make sure dealers are aware of the changes.

Re: FCA Changes Motor Oil Spec

Perhaps FCA doesn't want to pile on another RRT/TSB to 2014/15 owners (and dealers!) working with the shifter reflash? Especially given all the modules needing to be reflashed with that particular shifter RC.

Wouldn't surprise me if it surfaces at the end of August/early September so that the dealers have all the stickers etc in place. I wonder if they will also offer us a free oil change to the new oil/specs ......yeah right!

Re: FCA Changes Motor Oil Spec

With this new FCA oil spec. The Mobil 1 5w40 Turbo Diesel Engine oil looks very comparable to the Rotella T6 5W40. Anyone looking at this as an option?

Any 5W-40 CJ4 oil would do. As long as it meets the new spec. I myself am looking at the AMSOIL 5W-40

Re: FCA Changes Motor Oil Spec

I have completed 1804 miles since changing over to Rotella in my 2014 EcoDiesel, and I've seen no changes whatsoever, other than the cost of the oil change being ⅔' less.

Nordic1...so your fuel economy is the same? Does it seem to run any quieter or smoother? Did you notice any change in RPMs meaning lower/higher at a certain speed (I know it may be a stretch...but I had to ask). Did you change the filter too? I know I would but the TSB for the 2016s that they don't change it. Thanks in advance.

The only possibility would be that the engine is quieter when it is warm. I've noticed no changes in fuel economy, no difference in operational status nor any changes in drivability.
