Took 3 hours at the dealer, because they also installed 5 flash updates. Good for 10000 miles now (hopefully)

Shannon... Where did you get your service done? Just curious. Have a new Summit sitting on a railcar in Red Wing.... I Want it!

We need to solve this mystery. A local dealer told me what Shannon's said, that 68109834AA has been superseded by 68229402AA, yet I believe that the opposite is correct as posted by philbytx. BTW, part 68229402AA has a $60 list price.

Re: First oil change some info and comments

I checked with another dealer. They said that 68109834AA is the correct part number. They also said that the list price is something like $70. I said it would have to be about $40 to be close to the on-line price (with shipping). He said he could match $40.

Re: First oil change some info and comments

Shop around, you can buy the oil filters on-line for around $29 and shipping isn't much as they are very light!

Just completed the second oil and filter change on my JGC Limited Turbodiesel at 19,000 miles. All went well.

So I did my first oil change at 3000 miles last weekend. I've driven about 250 miles on the new oil and the oil gauge reads 92% oil life which seems a bit off. I noticed the same on the factory oil, I was at 30% at 3000 miles last weekend when I did the oil change.

I read that this TSB http://wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_1801814a.pdf is supposed to fix that so that the oil life percent is more accurate.

For those experiencing the short oil life, have you gotten that TSB applied or talked to a dealer/jeep about the short oil life?

I just assumed that it's very driving condition dependent. Around town the meter moves pretty fast, out on long highway trips it seems to not drop as fast.

For those of you in the Boulder, CO area, Pollard has an oil change package where you pay $235 for 4 oil changes that must be used in a 2 year period.

Re: First oil change some info and comments

I'm now at 13% @ 3400 miles and so I'll be going in this weekend to have jeep do my "free" oil change. Hopefully the numptys there know what they are doing. I did call and talk to my sales guy and he went and talked to the service dept to make sure they knew what they were doing and had all the supplies.

Re: First oil change some info and comments

Have you guys tried calling your dealers? I called Swope Jeep in E-town (near ft. Knox, ky) and they sold me ESP oil for 7.33 a quart and the filter for 33. I bought 4 oil filters, 17 quarts of oil.

Re: First oil change some info and comments

Yes tried a number of dealers in Ohio and Florida. Pennzoil was $9.62 a L and I am pretty sure they didn't know what they were doing as that price is cheaper than anyplace I have seen it. At these dealerships they had this oil locked up in a cabinet. No point in checking the filter as the oil was retail filter would be too...
