Yes, try again and again. It took me over 10 times for it to work. It has to do with timing between turning the car on (don't start the engine) and pumping the pedal three times. It made absolutely no sense when it went to 100 for me. I'd just try variations of fast and slow.

Also, I noticed a lot of oil in the filter housing that didn't drain. Did anyone else have the same results?

I had the 14-028 update installed on the car yet the oil life monitor still shows the oil needing changing at 3000-3500 miles.

Re: First oil change some info and comments

I undid the oil filter cover and removed the old filter as the oil was draining from the sump. I waited a few minutes and all the oil inside the filter casing drained out and I just wiped it out with a shop towel.

Wait longer.

Seriously, at 30 minutes, mine looked like yours. Sometime between 35-50 minutes, it "suddenly" drained and what was left could be wiped clean with a shop towel.

Or you could get a suction tool like a turkey baster. Either way, ensure you wait at least 30 minutes, as per the tech note.

Re: First oil change some info and comments

As an Idea.. could I do this?

I want to just drain and fill mine at say 5000 miles, not change the filter, the take it in to the dealer for a complete change (free) when the monitor approaches zero.... That way I have the peace of mine of changing it early, yet letting the "Dealer" do it when the percentage meter is down....

Would just putting new oil in drive any sensors or electronic equipment on board nuts or would it not even know you put new oil in?

Would it confuse anything or cause any codes or errors?

Re: First oil change some info and comments

Went by my Jeep dealer today to purchase an oil and air filter for my 2014 JGC Turbodiesel. This was the third oil filter I've bought there and the first air filter. The oil filter was $40 as it has been all along. The parts guy told me that he only had two remaining oil filters (Mopar p/n 68109834AA) and that he would be selling the "new" filter from there on (Mopar p/n 68229402AA). I asked him why there was a new filter and he stated that it was either a new design or a different manufacturer. I asked the price and he said they would be $60. Needless to say, I bought the last "old" filter he had for $40.

Anybody else heard anything about this or am I proving the old adage that if the dealer's lips are moving they must be lying?

Re: First oil change some info and comments

I just had my JGC ' oil changed for the first time today (2670 miles) and they used the new filter number that you mentioned.

I prepaid for 15 oil and filter changes from Chrysler for about $1000 when I bought the Jeep so I don't know (or care) what the current prices are...

Ugh. When I was trying to figure out this, I came to the opposite conclusion. See this post with a photo of the two filters in question:

Re: First oil change some info and comments

It doesn't seem unreasonable that after market oil filter companies will be after this business soon. Did anyone else notice both filters made in China?

I am waiting for Mann or Malhe to produce these since they make the majority of filters for European cars and trucks.

$60 for an oil filter made in China that might cost $2 to produce? Please...........

fun2drive,

Is this the filter you are looking for? Is this legit, it looks different? Was thinking of ordering with Mobil 1 (extra $20).
