My apologies...I was incorrect on the number. Was using the one provided by Milous.

Hey, thanks for alerting me to what could have been an error. Having another sanity check isn't a bad thing.

Milous updated the wk2jeeps site today to reference the new part number: 68229402AA.

Here is an other interesting link, paw of 3 Oil filters for $28.....would this be the start of aftermarket oil filters for our oilers?

Wife's only at 6k so haven't seen the filter yet, but this price is so good I have to worry about quality. I think NAPA should make one for like 15 bucks or so, that would be reasonable and inline with the other paper filters like this. I hope it happens soon, if not the dealer will be doing our changes for now.

Re: First oil change – some info and comments

Fairly helpful, would suggest adding the socket sizes for the filter housing (27mm found on conflictedracer blog) and drain bolt (13mm from experience)

I changed my oil yesterday and it was a bugger getting the oil housing cover off. the drain plug also had a washer my dealer over tightened when they changed it. The excessive tightening destroyed the washer (I'm going to pick one up today) and now I have a drip =(.

If your going to DIY I suggest picking up the washer when you get the supplies. My dealer had the Euro L for $8.50 /qt.

I added 8 Q and this morning I was just below minimum. Will check later.

Also there is a youtube video about grand cherokee diesel oil change that shows a mercedes. It mentions pouring half the oil into the filter housing. Is that necessary on our jeeps?

the dealship that ruined my last washer just informed me to replace it you have to replace the plug. To the tune of $26.20. Suggestions on alternatives?
