I made sure to push the pedal down slow, even took out the floor mat to ensure I was depressing the pedal the full amount. Had my watch with me and timed the evolution still not working for me.

Can you elaborate a little more, how long should I wait after going into the run position before depressing the gas pedal 3x within 10 seconds?

go into car , press start run button 2 x times. put cluster into oil life remaining
After the cluster diagnostic is done-chimes/lights are off. press pedal, hold down for split second, don't pump it. it will reset to 100% if you did it right.

Re: First oil change – some info and comments

So I had my Jeep in for it's oil change on Saturday - it's at 15600 miles. Has anyone else had the dealer tell them to change the fuel filter? I know in the maintenance manual, it's listed at 30k to be replaced.

I brought mine in for a strut replacement with 20K miles and they said to change the intake filter, cabin filter, and fuel filters. They wanted about $350 to do them. I said "I do my own maintenance, thanks."

Re: First oil change – some info and comments

My fuel filters were changed at 22,000... It took three days messaging back-and-forth between Chrysler and the dealer to figure out why the engine light was on. Fuel filters fixed the problem and I was told to change at 20,000 from now on.

Hey, what is the best way of removing the plastic oil filter cover? And what size is that hex nut on top? None of my sockets would fit over that bad-boy. Was hesitant to use the oil filter pliers (or any pliers for that matter) I normally use but was afraid of damaging the plastic. Any tricks to this?

The OP covers this. It really is worth reading carefully, as well as reading the content on wk2jeeps.com that is also linked from the OP that includes the official shop manual. You will want to know all the applicable sizes and torques, as well as wait times, etc.

So just a 27mm socket will cover that thing? I thought that you needed some sort of whole cap device otherwise the nut can strip. Thanks.

Yes. The damn thing is plastic, so I have always been very careful when starting the thread to avoid crossthreading. I also use a torque wrench to tighten it to the appropriate torque. You'll find that it doesn't really spin on easily even if you have threaded it correctly. Personally, I find the filter housing reattachment to be the highest-stress aspect of the oil change.
