Re: Fix for capless filler

Dom, provided the final product is done by the end of Feb or early march I'm in as well. In Canada near the US border till mid March and can get it shipped to a Washington address (saves heaps on the shipping). Ta.

Re: Fix for capless filler

I should have one last test fit tomorrow. I have Bryin putting together the list of everything. Magnet , tether etc. I just want to make sure everything is in and works, then I'll go a head and and make some real ones.

Re: Fix for capless filler

Question. From reading this thread and viewing the photos it appears that the fuel tank in our WK2s must have its own dedicated vent somewhere on the tank itself. The fuel tank is not vented thru the cap-less fill port. Is this correct? Has anybody who added a "cap" (rubber or otherwise) noticed any hissing noises when removing it to fill the tank with diesel?

Re: Fix for capless filler

I changed mine over to a cap type and there is no type of pressure when you remove the cap.

Fix for capless filler

So the fit is perfect. Has a double seal o ring setup. One for outside lip and one for the nipple that actually goes into filler hole.

I'm not so happy with the tether anymore. There's just not a good spot to put it. I was originally going to use an existing screw which is under the blue plastic def indicator, but the tether will have to be really long and that will cause an issue when closing the door. Another option was to self tap it into the plastic with in the door.

I honestly think it's best to not put a tether now. I will leave the option and have the hole drilled out just incase one wants to, but I will more than likely not include the actual tether. It will have a magnet and kit will come with a piece round laser cut metal you double stick to door so the magnet has a place to stick( OEM door is plastic).

Edit:

It will say Eco diesel on it as well as be anodized green.

I will find out soo how much it will cost.
