Dom, do you have a price estimate?

Fix for capless filler

I will have a Forsure as soon. They are being cut and will get some laser etching. I'm Trying to figure out the packaging and do up instructions etc.

I doubt it will go over $65. Not too expensive imo. I have compared others online and else where and Trust me it is not the same as what's available. There's no fuel cap like it. It definitely takes a lot more to cut this. More than just a lathe. If it didn't have that finger handle/ rag holder , then it would probably cost $35 which was in the original plan. But I have since added that handle , there fore requiring a more difficult cut. The only comparable thing would be a high performance shock cap, which this basically looks like.

Re: Fix for capless filler

Ok I lied. No price yet ha!! Slow process. When they are finished and the whole package is done ( ( packaging/ instructions etc)next week'ish), then I'll have a price. In fact it will be up on the site ready to go.

Holy Crap Dom, not sure if I want to put that anywhere near the fuel filler, way to shiny and nice!! Quite the work of art. Will keep an eye out on your site. As previously stated, am Stateside until mid March, when I head home. Hopefully you'll be up and running by then as getting sent to me here will save heaps on shipping. Love your work!

Machine shop told me sometime this week. More than likely Friday. Then I'll need a few days to package it and get them in the site for order.

Sorry for the wait. He just has a lot of work besides this project. They are already cut and anodized. Now getting laser etched ....

Dang, just found this thread from one of the DEF protection plate threads, and read all 13 pages!

Looks good, Dom. I did see the ones on eBay a couple of months ago, but didn't pull the trigger on them. Hope you post up here when they're available from your website.

Did you have to cut yours down to make it fit with the green diesel ring still in place?

Your picture shows the green diesel ring still in place, but it is hard to tell if that is a stock pipe test cap or if you've cut it to fit.

I tried a black hornet spray cap and it's the right diameter, but I'd have to take the green diesel ring off to give the fuel door room to close. I could cut the cap down, but there is a slight taper to the cap and I'd also be cutting off the lip that does the gripping. I'm not sure it will stay put if I cut it down.

I'm hoping your rubber pipe cap is a better fit.

Why do I think the green diesel ring is important? I travel through Oregon a lot and, by law, you can't pump your own fuel there. I don't want to chance someone grabbing the wrong pump and I think the green diesel ring is just one more head check.

We're heading out soon for 100ish miles of dusty gravel/dirt roads and want to minimize any of that fine volcanic powder working its way into important systems.

Yes, I'm quoting and answering myself. I cut down the hornet spray cap and sanded it flat on the cut edge. The taper makes it a tight fit, but it grabs right onto the lip on the green diesel ring and won't let go without a solid tug.

I'm going to add a lanyard and hook it to the DEF lanyard that's already there. I'm also going to make the top of the cap green with green duct tape.

For what it's worth, we did a drive on about 10 miles of gravel last weekend and ended up with bunch of fine dust in the area behind the fuel door. That gasket around the fuel door contact area is completely ineffective.
