Fuel additive and P20ee code...

Guys, I'm going to attempt to have a poll here because I see a possible relationship in my own vehicle between fuel additives and engine codes.

If you have had any weird engine codes (not just P20ee) please respond yes to the poll.

Thanks.

Re: Fuel additive and P20ee code...

I get a MIL after filling up with Chevron-branded diesel from one particular location. Last time, I ignored it and drove around....and after four days, the MIL went out. Go figure...No idea what code was thrown but interesting that I've put diesel into my truck many times since...no codes....and today went back there (it has cheap prices...$2.559 for diesel today) to test a theory. And yes, the MIL came on.

Perhaps Chevron puts an additive into its diesel fuel? Anyone know?

What would REALLY be helpful is finding out what Code is causing the MIL.

Re: Fuel additive and P20ee code...

I just bought an EcoDiesel JGC and have every intent of running Stanadyne Performance additive as well as their Lubricity addivtive, and maybe even a little Amsoil Cetane boost as well, just as I have my VW TDI (2.0L and 3.0L) and BMW 3.0L 3-series diesel.

What have others been adding that threw codes? Where have you noticed the codes, on the message menu or a OBD-II scanner?

Stanadyne even has a VW part number and does nothing but good things to diesel fuel (they primarily make diesel fuel injectors) and on a vehicle like my previous BMW 335d whose PCM could adapt to the higher cetane levels with the cetane boost, it purred like a kitten and ran like a beast with a little extra quality additional cetane. Fortunately, the area where I live in Texas is covered by the Texas Low-Emission Diesel Act, which mandates a minimum 48 cetane, but I would cringe to run that B20 junk in Minnesota or Illinois.
